The bigger concern is the continued sense of levy’s meddling based on ITK - as long as he continues to stick his ore in, we will not have success or get the players we need to be successful

I'm no BSoDL, but hasn't he been entirely hands off as far as we know, outside of not sanctioning 50 million pounds to buy Adama Traore, which almost all but the most hardcore Traore fans can at least admit is a bit of a stretch?

It's been a breath of fresh air to be honest, seeing how the Romero deal came together via Parrot Tits, in that it was done in a way that DL could never have constructed it, and to see us signing (and at least going after) top under 23 talent. I'm not sure that this is a fair one to lay at his door, imo. For all of the good work, if we go into the final days chasing a difficult deal for a PL player that they don't want to sell, with no backup plan, then that no longer falls on DL anymore.

Just going on what Herc said - but yes...seems that we have more coherence to our approach, though if Levy reverts to type (as was implied) then it could be an issue - but i'll reserve judgement for the time being

It's a tricky one. Goat bleats concern. JJ with calm. We'll never know the complete truth!

Edit: Bit mental in some ways that we end the window with a lot of people putting stock in Jorge Mendes coming through for us, given the absolute meltdowns a few weeks ago that he's anywhere near the club at all. Fickle business, football.

There is a clear reason for that which is hard to explain without looking like I'm casting aspersions on others (which I'm definitely not doing here in my attempt to explain) Information is gleaned from different places and different people from within, or from the out looking in with connections. So the higher up or closer to the truth you are, you tend to get less filters of opinion thrown into the information and therefore non-emotive or speculative. There are so many different things happening at once and lots of things to share that it is all true-ish however not necessarily as accurate as things change all the time!

Did anyone seriously believe at the end of last season considering what we had seen in previous seasons that Sanchez , Dier and Winks still be here let alone be playing. Our 2 centre halfs as we have seen time again have a few good games in them but ultimately they are a car crash waiting to happen and as for Winks there is no way he should be in the squad never mind playing he offers nothing defensively or offensively so I don't see the point in him being in the squad.

In the summer Levy talked about DNA but to get back to that surely we needed to bring in a bit of creativity and another forward to help out. I have seen people on here saying about we are in the ECL what do expect. Well the least we should expect is to show a bit of ambition to try and get us challenging or progressing not just making do with players who have let us down time and time again.

At the end of the day as supporters we would just love to think we would stand a chance of winning something or even competing but there is no way in the world can we keep on winning one nil all the time. Football should not just be about functionality it should be about entertainment looking forward to watching your team every week and be competitive.

Who's our backup Sonny then? How do their returns compare to his?
Who’s Salah or Mane’s backups and how do their returns compare to their’s? Yes I know they have Jota but he’s mainly been used as Firmino’s back up so far.

The squad is what we have for the next 4 months. I am not disappointed and believe we have done well, not only for this season, but for many to come.

Spurs are younger. Gollini is 8 years younger than Hart. Romero is 9 years younger than Alderweirald. Gil is 7 years younger than Lamela, Emerson is 6 years younger than Aurier. Skipp is 11 years younger than Sissoko. Sessegnon is 11 years younger than Bale.

We are in the Conference League so I suspect it will be the players that need time, and kids, who will get to play. The big guns will come out when and if we need to win, as was the case in the return leg against Pacos. Scarlett, Lavinier, Paskotsi, Devine may all get some time with quality around them (first Pacos was Nuno seeing what he has)

September suggests that Crystal Palace will likely be the same side as played the other day (plus or minus). The game in Rennes, will be the ones who did not start and some kids. Chelsea will then see the best XI. Wolves in the Carabao Cup, will see this who did not feature largely against Chelsea, not likely any of the kids. Arsenal will see the best XI start. NS Mura will see kids and players who need game time. October starts with Villa and then another international break. The great thing about the Conference League is that it will not be a priority over the League fixtures. Champion's League sometimes is and you pay for it in the league. Kane, Son and others who have played too many games in the past, will not be required to step up for these games unless they are fully fit, want to go, and there is a need for them to be in the squad.

I for one, am very excited about this season. Nuno is a task master. By January window, it will be obvious if there are players with no future at Spurs. Sanchez, Dier, Winks, Ndombele, Dele, Sessegnon, Bergwijn, Doherty all need to be proving something day in and day out. That is a good thing

As if he’s turning down spurs to go to Villa. He has to compete for a place there anyway with Watkins having an excellent season last year, truly unfathomable that we didn’t get him.
I thought we should have got Watkins last year. He started out as a winger so could easily played alongside Kane. Watkins, Kane, Son would have been a formidable front 3.

Definitely younger.

Romero (23), Gil (20), Royal (22), Sarr (18), Gollini (26), Sessegnon (21), Skipp (20) Average age of New Arrivals for this year = 21.4

Foyth (23), Toby (32), Sissoko (32), Hart (34), Lamela (29), Rose (30), Gazzaniga (29), Aurier (28), Bale (31), Vinicius (26) Average age of Departures = 29.4

Transfermarkt has Traore valued at 33M USD so not sure that 30 GBP is unreasonable. Not generous, but market value. That said, just like we value Kane much more than City, they likely value Traore at much more to them. Completely fair. They are better with him, than without. Whether the 30M would have allowed them to fill other gaps or not, is a whole other issue. Only two years left in his contract so there will be more chatter in January and next summer they will not likely get 30M unless they tie him down to a longer deal. I suspect (perhaps hope) that by January, he is not at all what we are looking at. Bergwijn has all of the physical attributes to make him a far more complete player. He is just really lacking confidence. The injury set him way back. It is only now that he seems to be going at 100%. Like Dele, nothing a few goals cannot fix.

Definite gamble for a player such as Adama. He’s not of the 50m player quality(but that is what the pl-pl transfer market seems to do). That PL tax we would have been paying isnt worth it in this climate. But I am confident Levy would have given his signature on that Lautaro move if it came down to it while also keeping Kane. But that is because he would fall under that special criteria we seem to lay aside funds for.

I have no problems with this window other than not getting another wide forward/striker. It was decent enough for all its challenges & the late start we handed ourselves with the manager debacle. If we need immediate reinforcements in the XI come January, I am sure the club will look at it. Otherwise, if 100% capacity & event schedule resumes as is at the stadium, I think we could make bigger splashes next summer.

Welcome home. ..... we've missed your contributions and your ability to bat off whatever others throw your way.

While true under normal circumstances, surely if there’s anything that would make a club consider selling an important player in January it would be the fact that the player has 18 months remaining on his contract. Assuming Traore doesn’t sign a new deal, January will be Wolves’ last chance to get full price for him.

If they’ve established themselves well clear of the relegation zone and have Neto back (or nearly back), it wouldn’t be unthinkable that they might be willing to take their last opportunity to cash in before his value is slashed.

Whether Levy would be willing to pay up rather than take a gamble and wait to see whether he can get Nuno’s target for a snip six months later is the bigger question IMO.
If they have Neto back and playing that’s who we should be targeting not Traore.

Not that it matters in the grand scheme of things - Talk Sports has Spurs listed as the third best business behind United and Chelsea in this window. Can't really judge a lot of it immediately, but I think it is about right. United and Chelsea added some players largely for the here and now. Spurs, to my eyes, is much more forward thinking with the belief a lot will come to fruition sooner than expected.

So it sounds like Levy got cold feet and didn’t fully back Paratici?
Very disappointing. We have lost Bale’s PL goals and Vinicius’ cup goals and replaced them with nowt. Lamela for Gil the only attacking change.

Overall, I'm happy with that transfer window. Not gonna shit the bed, not gonna spunk in it either - it was a 7/10. On a side note, I hope CCV has a good season at Celtic, and they choose to take the option of purchasing him. I don't think he's gonna make it at the club now. Sarr looks decent, from YouTube highlights, so I'm looking forward to keeping an eye on him this season and seeing what he can bring to the team in the following one.

Before the transfer window most on here were saying we needed to upgrade at right back and centre back as well as get a creative midfielder and a striker (2 if Kane leaves).

Well, we have done the first two perfectly. We have also brought in Gil and whilst he is not the true creative central midfielder we wanted is another great attacking option. With Skipp back from his loan we have also strengthened the centre of the pitch. We have kept Kane. So the only real disappointment is no new striker.

We look a better squad than last season, we look fitter and hopefully more on the front foot than last season. I am pretty excited and confident for the season.

I'd rather see Scarlett develop through the cup games (with a better team around him than the first leg of Pacos) than spending 20-30m on players like Edouard, Daka, Ings, etc to play in those matches. If he's what we think he is, why would we block him with a player that MIGHT be better for a few seasons? Because we like shiny new things?

If Dane gets service, he could easily did what Vinicius did in the cup games last year. Now do I want to see him up front in Premier League matches? Probably not. But if Kane did get hurt, we slide Son in and that formation looked pretty good against City. Don't see Son or Kane starting many ECL matches.
I'd love one of our own to come through, but highly as he's rated, Scarlett is a bit of an unknown. We see he can finish and is fast, but he is so young (17) with much to learn at this level you would think.
His natural path will be via a loan or 2 as it was for kane, skipp and Parrott, when he's learnt how to make himself a sandwich away from home.

What he isn't is a plan B like vinicius and llorente, so his chances will be even more limited.

In weighing up this window, it is super optimistic to in any way mark this guy as a backup to kane to any extent, as many are doing. That's my head talking, but sure the heart says he could score a vital goal or 2 in the cups and this is the year when he makes his mark. Bloody 'ell, you've got me at it now.
