The difficulty of shifting players out topped off by Aurier snaking his way out of the club must have had a major impact on our transfer plans.

I'm happy with what we did and now it's over to the players to deliver.

I think it's been a solid transfer window, could it have been better - yes but on the whole we have managed to shift some dead wood whilst adding to problem position's especially RB / CH as well as probably the best back up GK in the league who will no doubt go on to be our number one. We have taken highly promising players such as Gill and Sarr which was pleasing to see. With Kane staying, we also have the best in the league. Dier and Sanchez have been solid so far - yes I know it's been 3 games, but when have they ever done 3 good games in a row - this shows Nuno and his team have been working hard with defense both on and off the ball - and with Romero waiting in the wings - I feel defensively this is the strongest we have been in some time. I would have liked to see a ball playing CM / AM added - I think that is what we are missing - someone to unlock teams when they are behind the ball - but we do have potentially Gill that could be utilised there. Whilst I would have like to see Traore added, his fee at 50 million imo was too high - considering his contract situation and for all his good qualities, the assists / goals he brings does not justify the price tag. However time will tell of we should have paid the extra to get him in now. However if JJ is saying that all our happy and on the same page, then that is refreshing to hear.

Onwards and upwards.

Really happy with the work that we HAVE done for this season. It's a shame we couldn't bring in 1 or 2 further players to really strengthen the 1st 11.

Sarr is one for the future and will have zero impact on this season. Hoijberg will be blowing come Feb.

Great work on the outs which has really streamlined the squad albeit revealing some gaps that we can hopefully sort next summer.

6.5/10. IMO it was imperative that we achieved more this summer. Like @Rob said a 'short heavy overhaul' would be better than a 'long drawn out one'

Not signing a striker is bat shit mental.

Chillax, chill out yeah, we got this yeah. Laughable. Anyways.

Onwards with the season. COYS.

Spurs play in the best league in the world and in one of the best stadiums in the world. We underachieve so any kind of success would be a huge celebration. It should be one of the most attractive jobs for a manager. How did we end up with Nuno whose style doesn't fit the criteria we set out with and who had been a free agent for 3 months?

I think it's widely agreed that we were looking for a "yes man".

Can you provide some evidence that could convince me that Nuno is a "yes man" and is okay being shafted by Levy because i don't see it.

Mucho happy. All the players I wanted gone - Aurier, Lamela and Sissoko - have gone.

"We spent the last 48 hours of window desperately trying to shift Aurier or Doherty as Daniel would not sanction Emerson until one of them left

in the end when it was clear there were no takers we decided to cancel serge contract he was on 80k a week
as I said on Wednesday it was never going to be busy yesterday we could not get traore out of wolves and once the Tanguy to Lyon deal died it meant our business was finished
Tanguy is still here because there is no money in Europe , Daniel was not willing to take a huge haircut , he will not play until he is fit though

once Kane stayed we were never buying a striker , Daniel reduced the wage bill significantly this window and was never paying striker wages

re the signings , in Romero they feel they have bought the best available center half in the world that is why we paid over 40 million In a depressed market for him

we did the Emerson deal as we worry about tanganga making it through a 50 game season and neither Doherty or serge are up to it , we had agreed a 14 million fee for TOmayasu then they moved goalposts up to 17 million , we may still have done the deal but par viewed Emerson as better business for 25 million

The only other player who may have gone was winks but he loves it at spurs and is happy to be a squad player , no one offered more than 12 million so we were happy to keep him "

Now we have the squad complete after the TW we can set our expectations and then not be too disappointed. We have squad to compete for 6th with West Ham, Everton and Villa etc. If we have a great season and Leceister hve a poor season we may challenge for 5th but we will have to be lucky with injuries for sure

Overall I'm happy with the business we managed to do. Yes we're still light in an attacking midfield slot and possibly Kane and Son alternatives but now that is up to Nuno to get the best out of Lo Celso and the lazy French bloke and make them bigger goal threats as well..

It's glaringly obvious that we're in a transitional period with regards to some changes and we have started to get some of the older heads off of the wage bill + we were never going to fix all the squad issues we have in one window, were we?

I doubted top four was an achievable feat before the window opened and I still doubt it now because other squads are well ahead of us and far stronger but it is nice to see we're starting to rebuild the right way, with a few promising youthful signings and not last stop pensioners.

After the farce that was last season, I'm actually looking forward to watching us play some decent stuff this season.

I think a lot rests on whether
a) Bergwijn can score 8-10 league goals this season
b) Scarlett is actually ready for some first team exposure

Yup, I'm with you on this. Buying the 'wrong' players, is a bloody costly thing to do.

I think we're all in a similar place, being:

The outs:
- arguably still one or two we'd like to shift
- ...maybe more depending on who we could get in i.e. another CB if one were to fo

The Ins:
- A striker...
- ...or possibly two next summer, depending on Harry
- a winger? Depends on how Gil develops I suppose...could see him playing deeper in due course
- a ball playing CM

...but if the right players aren't available at the right price, that's OK. We're building, and it's really important to remember that. In fact, we've got notably less issues (short term issues in particular i.e. relating to age or contracts) than we had before, and being able to focus on addressing those has value.

I'm positive. I think our league position slightly flatters us at present - we can't rely on the (slightly lucky) goals we've been scoring, nor can we rely on keeping clean sheets. So we're going to need to improve.

But for now I think we're in a better position than we thought we might have been when we were deep into summer without a manger.

There are some here wetting there little white panties saying that we are doomed because we have not replaced our Goal Scorers form last season.

In brief, the players we have lost

Toby 1 Goal 0 Assists
Aurier 2 Goals 3 Assists
Sissoko 0 Goals 0 Assists
Bale 11 Goals 2 Assists
Lamela 1 Goal 0 Assists
Vinicius 1 Goal 0 Assists

So we have lost 16 Goals and 5 Assists

Toby & Aurier - we have replaced and they do not have to do a lot to improve on this (3 Goals & 3 Assists)
Sissoko - Meh
Bale - Difficult to replace, but it is not beyond the realms of reality to see Dele scoring 10+ this season if he continues his resurgence.
Lamela & Vinicius - 2 Goals

If we improve what we have with good coaching and a sense of purpose current players should improve

Moura - 3 Goals 4 assists
Reguillon - 3 Assists
Bergwijn 1 Goal 3 assists
PEH 2 Goals 4 assists

Our defence is now much stronger, and we have a new manager with a different approach. If we move to a more consistent 3-5-3 (which has been alluded to) we should have the right personnel within the squad to cope adequately with this set up.

We are in a far better position than the end of last season.

And trying to use the losses of last seasons squad to show how weak we are now is a little naïve given that we haven't lost Kane and/or Son

A good summary. Sounds exactly how I imagined it went down.

I have watched this window unfold in it's usual way and whilst not completely happy with the in-comings (no backup striker or play-maker) I think it has been an okay window. Sometimes I read all the posts and think there are some people who have unrealistic expectations of how buying a player actually works. I.e. The player must want to join, the club must be prepared to sell and THFC have to consider the fee reasonable. Anyway, rather than write a "war and peace" length post I believe we have made progress. The bottom line is how NES regards the squad now. If he is okay with his squad I will trust him to do the best he can with it until proven otherwise. All of us on SC want the best for Spurs and whilst we may not always agree with each other we have no control over these transfers.

Anyway I have donated as usual post-window and thank you all for the ITK , admin and comments.

So, all the people that went off on one about the Goat ITK yesterday, have all read JJs recent ITK, right?

RIGHT?!

His tweets are pretty similar when put together with D1’s post. All very reasonable.

Agree with him on the outs. For once it seems like we were willing to take hits on outgoings.

All of that seems pretty sensible tbh.

The only thing I would question is Daniel not paying "striker wages".

I think this is a misstep from our chairman; there are 10-15 games every season where you need quality, fresh-legs up front. You win these games and it makes or breaks the season.

I don't really see how we're getting back into the CL without forking out on a back-up striker.

Tbh, I think the £150k p/w (£8m a year) wages on a back-up striker is worth it.
