He's from Leeds and goes up there regularly. Was reportedly out with Livermore in Hull at the weekend so I wouldne be surprised if it was there. Hes good mated with Thudd Livermore

AVB actively chose Vertonghen to play at LB when he thought he was the better option, best example being away at Upton Park where he wanted more of a physical presence there.

Personally,I'm not a fan of that at all. I don't think Vertonghen is good in that position.

I've watched him plenty too over the course of his career, and there is no question he's not been at his best since arriving last year at Inter (then again, Inter were a complete mess last season). However, he was excellent at Porto during AVB's treble year, and a change of scenery could do him good. He's better than Danny Rose and has a shitload more experience in big games. I'd be very happy with him, if we could get somehow get him.

Fair enough, mate. I've only watched him in Serie A and have been very unimpressed. Didn't watch him for Porto though, but the Italian league is a much stronger league than Portugal and he looked like he couldn't hack it. Players cope differently I suppose.

We need a strong squad in all departments, and Lennon is still a fantastic squad player to have.

And there's the bleat. Lennon off up north? North of border? Or north England? Can only see Liverpool being in for him, maybe Sunderland.

Can't sell to Liverpool as they are looking too much of a threat this season. I dont think Sunderland would appeal. I could see Newcastle panicing and dropping a big offer for him - it would be at risk though given his injury would mean he could only complete a partial medical. I would say that if £10-15m was offered i'd take it and secure ince as a cheaper, younger option. As much as i like seeing lennon scamper after the ball, it very rarely ends up in anything productive.

Unless London has grown to have a suburb called Leeds, I would suggest that he is more northern than Londoner.

Would be a shame to see him go though as I always hoped he would show that he is as good as hr can be.
