Could someone tell me if there have been any tangible links to Cabaye? I've read various people suggesting that we will sign up but I'm not sure where they're getting this from?

There are no tangible links that i've seen, however he is likely to be up for sale in January and would be an almost perfect signing for us - which means we won't get him ;)

Will probably go to Liverpool if he's perfect for us!

For the first time I can remember, I not sure I actually want us to sign anyone in the transfer window. Not because I'm happy with the squad, but because I don't trust us to make any successful signings!
The sad truth. So depressing

Worried that we are linked to a host of attackers but no central defenders. Chiriches/Kaboul are bit good enough at all and the jury is our on Fazio. We need to reinforce our back line

We bought 3 defenders in the summer though. Personally, I think Poch needs to just play Vertonghen (our best defender), not chop and change our back line too much and get on the bloody training ground and work on the defensive organisation.

After all, coaching is supposed to be what he's all about isn't it?

Part of the reason our defensive ineptitudes are being flaunted so much is because we're so easy to counter. Better press and better pinning back of opposition helps prevent this.

I do agree we need a reinforcement at CB, but the perks to reinforcing the attack just so happen to also extend to the defense in this case.

Supposedly. It's all a bit unclear though whether he he really is the type of fast press high energy manager and it's just not registering or whether he has dropped it for now because he thinks our players can't implement it.

And for sure, Vertonghen needs to be starting in the league as although he hasn't exactly been perfect, compared to the other 3 he's Maldini.

No to Cabaye please

Talented player but a bloody nightmare as a person, if people think Adebayor is bad for team morale Cabaye is 10 times worse

some itk!
from galahad the gnome on coys (hes their goat)

A parchment arrives containing some snippets from the diminutive one. The information is not uniformly positive, so if you dislike reading negative information, please close this thread now.
There was a confrontation after the Stoke game between Adebayor and Kane. Most of the team sided with Kane, but Kaboul and a couple of others didn't. Kaboul then went to see the manager to voice "the squads opinion" on Kane and his supporters. It was clear to MP that Adebayor, Lennon and Kaboul do not speak for the rest of the squad. The younger players are not happy with the way the three most senior players have been behaving, training and playing.
MP bitterly disappointed with more than half a dozen of the squad who have decided the extra hard work they are being asked to do hasn't paid off, so they won't bother to do it. He wanted to give them time to buy into his plans, but they have chosen not to do so. Today's team selection is a reflection of this reality.
Adebayor and Lennon are refusing to accept a move. They've told MP that they don't care whether they play or not. They'll stay at home, train with the reserves or sit on the bench, as long as they collect their wages.
Lennon only made the bench today because of the injuries to Townsend and Chadli.
Unsurprisingly it's proving most challenging to move many of our players expect Vlad to go permanent, and Paulinho on loan. Both to Italy and both to top Italian sides. Inter showing the most interest in Paulinho as things stand.
Baldini suggested we hire Paul Mitchell. MP supported this idea. Mitchell is seen as someone with the potential to become a DOF in the long term. He wants to 'apprentice' for a few years with someone experienced in transfers, dealing with agents and players, etc.
Each member of the triumvirate will have control over their own area of the transfer process. MP will decide on the roles he needs for his tactical schemes. Mitchell will then identify players (both young players and established players) for those roles, and will recommend them to MP, who will either approve or reject each of those recommendations. For players that get MP's green light, Baldini will go out and try to sign them. MP trusts Mitchell explicitly.
Moreno and Rodriguez (subject to full recovery) are still the top two on the list for January, although Mitchell has already identified other possibilities for MP to look at.
Apart from the above, there's no news.

The only negative news there is that lennon and ade are gonna continue to take us for a ride. "Shocked"...said no one.

The rest is fantastic news as we now have some idea where the rot lies and the new system of acquiring players is spot on as it doesn't mention shinehead.

Two windows to sort this mess out and pull out all the rotting teeth.

Rather play and select the youth around Kane and co than Adebayor, Kaboul and his folks. They just can't step up and lead a team. Wankers...

I don't think it is good news, seems we are of the mindset that the DOF is just there as another voice when it comes to transfers. I'd much rather a wide-ranging role that I would call 'Technical Director' who isn't just a transfer guy sitting there fantasising about the next player we could buy and instead makes sure the whole footballing side of things (academy, scouting network, medical/sports science etc) is as good as it possibly can be.

Yep. All sounds good to me...especially the plan for the transfer strategy.

Hopefully Pochettino will have the balls to stick with the players that are willing to play his system, rather than include certain 'favourites' like Adebayor and Kaboul. Sounds like a self-perpetuating issue with some of our players - 'System doesn't work...won't bother with it...system continues not to work.'

Here's an idea geniuses - how about doing what your manager/coach is asking you to do, then see if things improve before judging them.

I can imagine AVB had exactly the same problem.

Why were those 2 given captaincy responsibilities?
Did MP not know at the time or was he just trying to get them back on side?
