A Warning for all those that want Hooper. This is Anthony Stokes record. Look at his stats England vs Scotland. Hooper is a bad mistake.

Stats are as always misleading. Stokes is no more than a championship player at best. Stokes is an off the shoulder type striker who can't play with his back to goal which is why he never starts big games. Hooper on the other hand has far more about him.

I'm not saying that we should sign him but stats only tell a small part of the story.

If we're going down the route of disingenuous stats, how about Goals in the Champions League? Including qualifiers, Hooper has 4, Stokes has none.

In fact, including qualifiers, if he stays at Celtic, at the end of this season Gary Hooper will have played more Champions League football than Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.

this is almost ridiculous - how are the stats of one player indicative of how a different player will fare? (n)

sample size too small. could just be a blip. If he played 60 games and scored 20/30 then yeah, buy him.

what it shows is the standard of scottish football. Stokes couldn't score for arsenal. gets a goal a game for falkirk in SPL. then moves to palace, sunderland and sheff united. couldnt score goals. moves to hibs, get a goal every 2 games, moves to celtic same, goal every two games.

Can I make it any clearer how bad the level of football is in Scotland? Its league one standard.

According to the uefa co efficients, Scotland is 24th best league in europe. Of course in reality its even worse, because the 2nd division of the top football countries is stronger.

The argument of dutch and portuguese players making it isnt a good one since both leagues are pretty high up the list. Big big mistake to sing Hooper IMO.
