Well that is what will happen if we throw money around, don't you agree? We're not generating profit, which means that if we start throwing millions away on players that are going to play second string we will quickly be deep in debt.
I think we all know Levy won't spend 20m on Willian.

I havn't seen Willian play in League games, but I've seen a bit of him in Europe, both competitions. He has always looked very good to me. A really exciting talent IMO, or he was at least anyway.

Don't believe for one second we would be considering splashing out that sort of money on him though.

Leaving the money out of it for a second, not sure why so many are so underwhelmed.

Ffs lads! We have not spent 20m on a player before, and now we're gonna smash that record with a bud for willian?! Ain't gonna happen. And for those saying "relax, not your money anyway": what do u think Leeds and Liverpool fans said just before armageddon?? Get a grip...

In levy we trust...

I really cannot see why we would spend actual money to sign Willian. So underwhelming. Just saw Wigan accepted a bid of £9 million for Moses. If we are paying anything even close to that for Willian I'll be furious.

I hope there is truth to the Damiao stories though.

Right, Viper, so instead of rating my posts disagree and dumb, why not formulate your own opinion and let's hear it?

We have certainly made a profit on player trading since our last published accounts of June 2011 - around £20m. Sure we may have some long term loans to pay off, but add the funds from the imminent sale of Modric and possibly Dawson, and we're hardly skint.

The owner said £25million but Willain said they rejected the £20million bid and that he would like to go to the CL champions
I understand, but people have got to see past the bs on the surface when it comes to claims made in the media.

- Shaktar claims £25m to maximize their return on a player they'd prefer to keep. They know there are wealthy clubs that spend like drunken sailors.

- Willian claims £20m (already we have a discrepancy popping up) because all players want those bragging rights to say they're worth £XXX million, plus some of them share in the transfer fees paid for them. Higher fee = more cash in their pockets

- Agents direct players to publically claim a club has bid a silly amount on them. The player benefits, as mentioned above, and the agent gets a larger percentage when a player is worth more.

I guess this exactly what Leeds fans were saying on Leeds Community a few years back. "Who gives a fooking fook if we spend millions over the odds on fees and wages for people like Seth Johnson" I just want the best.

Or maybe try the Glasgow Rangers forum at the moment.

We should all care because chairman do get shit like this wrong all the time and it's us fans that end up paying for and watching the shit that's left.

Oh for goodness sake Bus Conductor. Please don't menton Leeds bloody United. Arghhhhh.

Look lads there's been damn all invested in this team in years and in not talking about money recouped and reinvested. I'm not too sure about willian but hell I'm willing to take a punt cause god know when the next time were going to spend money again

Do you know how much money we have in the bank?

Do you not think an intelligent man such as Levy might have a strategy that might allow us to afford to buy players in muliple positions for big transfer fees?

I don't understand people who say "we can't spend money here or there because we need to save money for a striker" YOU DON'T KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY WE HAVE!!

Are suggesting it's easier to be Brazilian international than a croation international?

The population of Brazil is 195,655,014, the population of Croatia is 4,407,000. Both teams are only allowed to field 11 players at a time. Statistically there is more chance of playing for Croatia 11/4.4m than Brazil 11/195.7m.

So, yeah.

We know we don't have enough to splash it on Average players. Maybe Damiao or moutinho, but never on Willy!

Have a look at this. Deloitte Football Money League 2012 - Tottenham Hotspur

I'm not saying we're skint, I'm just saying that spending £20 million on Willian is crazy in todays (football)economy.

He's right though. It's a perfect example of what could happen if you go spending willy nilly. You can only spend what you can afford to spend, and as we are not bankrolled by a Russian mafia or Sheikh, we can't be throwing 20million at someone we don't desperately need. We also don't have a big stadium to gain any extra finance right now, so it makes sense not to spend 20million on someone we dont need. I would much rather or spent in an area like CM or FW.

Or would you rather we threw money at everyone we wanted, end up having a bad season and not being able to afford them, forced to sell them and start from the bottom again?

I already know the answer to that question, and it's a big fat NO.

Umm..

1. Because its the Internet and we all try to be heard.
2. Because of club history, which leads into point 3
3. Because we have multiple holes to fill and the guy filling those spots is notoriously stingy
4. Because we're not City, Chelsea, etc. If we were, you'd not have anyone disagreeing with you

Literally don't understand if you are responding to a question, or trying to be smart. Either way you failed.

I'm not sure I agree with your logic. If you're correct, then it's much harder to play for san marino (11/0.031m)
