Not a chance. Whenever an ITK posts a cryptic we ask that they PM us the solution. That covers their arses and insures we don't have the B&Y thing all over again.

Wasn't the ITK referring to the famous 'blue & yellow' ITK that never came off - Leandro and some other dude... and went along that theme of Red & Black?

I'm shit at cryptics, fun reading everyone trying to break it down though!

Pretty sure people have got a bit carried away with this cryptic and the most likely solution was the one offered up about us going for Lukaku first and if we can't get him then it will be Bony.

That to me makes the most sense and would fall in line with previous links in the media.

Think you could well be right, but it should be possible to solve a proper cryptic clue through logic, as in a crossword clue. For example:

Pale monarch meets Her Majesty? That's Brendan Rodgers! (6)

'Red and Black' just invites pages of guesswork.

I could be wrong, but as far as I know blue actually did happen in the end (for better or worse). Correct, yellow never did.

I still believe blue & yellow actually were two different players (or maybe started out as one, but became separated at a point in time when it was convenient), even though Brazil's kits are in both colours.

Reckon you're right. Swansea's away kit is black & red too - via their wiki page anyway.

I haven't really been following the guesses i'm afraid. Been busy with putting the final touches to the designs for my new bejazzled gimp mask.

With the world cup going on, I would guess the color codes refer to National Teams and not Clubs. Apart from that, cant be arsed to go into further guesses/philosophies, but I just thought i'll put that out, and help you guys that can be arsed to take that into consideration!

See, that's what I'm getting at. Yellow was Damião, blue was Adebayor. Now, I'll admit that blue and yellow may have started out as referring to 1 player, and then later changed. I don't remember the details. However, I've no doubt that at one point, blue was Ade.

If we take that idea and run with it "blue & yellow are yesterdays colours.." might indicate that yellow is off the table for good and blue is to be sold (unless something changes after his holiday).

Peoples minds are amazing!!

Some are saying Blue and Yellow is important as it may give some clue. Personally i think it was just a reference to our past cryptics.

Just because someone writes a cryptic it doesn't mean that every word in the sentance holds hidden meaning. Lets try to be sensible about it.........

We all know that CB is a required position and that Lovren has been linked strongly with ourselves and Liverpool. I would therefore suggest that Grey is hinting that IF we dont get Lovren then we will go for Red and if we dont get them Black. For me Red and Rojo fit as there have again been links. Therefore we are looking at defenders and the third choice defender will have a name or a nickname that translates to black. Just my simple slant on it without getting too caught up in creating a more tangled mess and looking for spurious shirt colour links.

I'm sure he will at some point, but don't worry too much about it being in the Media first, we have the solution and can vouch for it, even if it does appear in some rag or another before GF spills the beans.
