Remy is going to cost a ridiculous sum of money. Why don't we look at someone like Scott Sinclair or even Sturridge?

Both of them can play up top/out wide, they have prem experience, extremely quick and Sinclair especially is playing really well. Most importantly, they'll cost half of what Marseille want for Remy.

1) Could just be a flash in the pan.

2) I doubt Chelsea would sell, and certainly not to us...not unless the deal included a certain Croatian p***k-teaser. Indeed, if I remember rightly Chelea, who should have been bending over backwards to get Modric, wouldn't even consider giving us players like Sturridge - they didn't want to be hurt by the deal at all.

Sorry TS but Sturridge would cost at least 15 million plus because he is young, english and in Chelsea's first team and secondly they wouldn't sell him to us,and for Sinclair he is having a reasonably good season but would still be a big gamble as twentyish games doesn't make him EPL proven.
Remy will be exspenive as will any rated player in this window it depends how willing Mr Levy co are willing to go and we will only know if and when it happens, hopefully by the end of the window we will all now know for sure.

edgey and pensive fan hoping sooner than later:grin:

Sinclair is owned by Swansea not Chelsea (according to Wikipedia anyway)

Don't be so lazy, go and check the RO

I read the Archibald Marseille stuff. Interesting. Sow? Hmmmm.

I was just wondering if there was any non-RO ITK posted in here, as some slips through the RO net (not sure why?) and I hate trawling through 40 pages of poo to find the diamonds in the rough :)

I've had my doubts at times, but that's long passed and now, while he can drive me nuts at times (like telling Ba's release clause to the world), I recognize him as a better manager than I though. So no I wouldn't Rusky. Day one hated him, but by now I respect and would miss him.

But I imagine those of you who can't stand any dissent will continue to lump everyone together and burn us in effigy

I've had problems with him as much as anyone, I'm talking about the people who don't like him because he's a bit of a crook or because they think he doesn't know any players outside of the PL, or that he only plays players he likes.

I hate in when people act like we didn't sign suarez simply because Harry didn't rate him as a player

The fact is Harry decided that as he was going to cost in excess of £20m he wasn't the right guy for us, as we needed an Adebayor type instead of a similar player to VDV (in terms of the role they play and position they fill etc)

I am sure Harry would have loved to sign him but we had to consider what he was worth to US

he was clearly worth more to Liverpool, who armed with money from the sale of Torres and already having more clout and a higher wage structure were always going to be favourites to sign a player in a head to head battle with us (as they had done already with Joe Cole)

The only advantage we had was that we were still in CL, but as Saurez had already played in it for Ajax he was cup tied and that was irrelevant.

Liverpool were tracking Suarez for as long as we were, had more money, a bigger wage structure and far greater need to sign him than we did.... its foolish to act like the only reason we didn't sign the guy is because Harry wasn't sure.

I agree, massive bullet dodge with this player.....over rated by the Liverpool loving media (generally their ex players who rave about him), doesn't score enough and doesn't create enough, is dirty and a cheat and a racist to boot, represents all that is bad in football and I would hate him to be representing us. Why people still bring him up as some missed boat is beyond me.

Suarez is not a similar player to VDV, and doesn't play a similar role. As an available player he was a missed boat, for the wrong reasons. But as a person, it now transpires that I'm glad because I wouldn't the racist prick in our side but that doesn't mean the football logic that spurned him was correct.

But he would have played a similar role for us, as it clear he is not the goalscorer many touted him to be.
