Not sure what to make of this, but i just left the pub where i bumped into an old workmate who used to get some really good transfer info from spurs, he told me about the bassong transfer before it happened, and was also bang on with his info about defoe's return to which we thought he had gone mad, but as i say he was dead right. I asked him if he still got info and he said he still hears things through his contact, who although has left his official post with spurs, he is still close to a few faces at whl. When i asked him what was going on he said that we won't be doing anything in regards to bringing someone in this window, but will be signing a player for the summer that will be announced by the end of february. He didn't know who but said he will try to find out for me. He was pissed so could well have been talking nonsense, but i will await his call on thursday and let you know what he says

That would perhaps point to Damiaoo.
Make sure to update us. Thanks.

Though we really need to jut upgrade Pav this window and we are in much better shape.

Cheers EA. You look like a honourable earthling

No promises, and i'm inclined to think because his contact isn't with the club anymore he wouldn't have such information, but who knows.

I'm definitely not claiming to be itk because i aint, i just remember how right he has been before. If any mods need to know where he gets such info i will try to get some answers.

Adebayor? Leandro?

One can but dream.

why wud we announce adebayor end of feb. i dont think that wud be him if someone actually wud be announced. it has to be a south american player if spurs wud do that . although i wud question the timing cos if for example it was a striker what wud that say to ade or defoe!!! maybe pav will sign for russia club around that time so maybe an announcement might come into play then!!

when can russian clubs sign someone by , end of feb ?????

Bellamy a good option to have. Explosive from the bench. Probably exactly what we need now as well as Defoe. A genuine game changing option.

I read somewhere that his knees are shot. He can only play i game a week like Ledders.

That's why he should stay with Liverpool next season!

JJ mentioned that some names are being banded about, that haven't hit our radar yet in terms of ITK or media

Pure logical deducing would leave me believing that Olivier Giroud MUST be one of them..

Young
Tall and capable of holding it up
Good all round threat in air, ground, has pace and is on brilliant form
Plays at a smaller club and could be available for sub 20m

We have looked in France plenty with Remy, Gameiro, Lille players etc, it seems so bloody obvious that he could be gettable, improve us and maybe go on to be a superb striker, that I simply refuse to believe that we haven't been looking at him

I mentioned on here the other day that I've got some mates living in Montpellier and they think this guy is the next big striker to come out of the country. More importantly they think he is perfectly suited to a lone role in the Prem.

As you say, given that info we must have had a good look at him.

When players like Aguero, Nasri, Silva and Balotelli make a difference you can see the difference spending power makes. All the more frustrating when our best attacking option is their player and he can't even play. They could bring a player like Dzeko off, we have to be able to compete with that kind of player power and we have treaded water while they have strengthened.

So you're hoping for an A* in your GCSE for Stating the Totally Fucking Obvious?

I really don't see us making any transfers in this window, there is fuck all out there.

Any work we are doing now is preparation for the summer and hopefully we can finish third in the League and be able to offer Champions League football.

that should be our goal.. get as many points as we can and quickly as we can between now and end of season and cement third spot at least.i expect that ga we have to get bigger over next couple of fixtures between us and chelsea. once we do that i believe we wont be short of 2 or 3 strikers begging to come in summer... rossi, real madrid cast offs, remy, leandro, even pato might be gettable in the summer... the smart move might be to get a quality loan in to challenge adebayor and vdv for spot.

still think more creativity and something differnet in midfield or wide players wud not go amiss either.. sometimes we are 2 predictable!

Just stay positive so what guys if we don't buy anybody the team that have walked this league should have beaten by us away from home aslong as we stay positive! We can make the champs league then push for signings in the summer when it's cheaper!

Don't forget we need the new stadium

Just one of these players could make a massive difference to us, we took a pop on Pav, it didn't work out. Fair enough, most of them cost a pretty penny, but there are other lesser established players we should be having a gamble on and either haven't or have failed with bids/negotiations.

We should have rolled the dice again a long time ago now and it's already cost us. It's been a while since there was substantial investment in the squad and it's now probably overdue IMO.

Honestly think a striker is critical as we stand at the moment.

I agree as I too mentioned him weeks ago in another thread.
I really think he'd be perfect but I believe Montpellier want a ridiculous amount of money for him.
Perhaps you can ask your mates what their President said recently as I can't remember the figure exactly but I know it was high!

It was about 30 million quid I think, but that was purely a flippant reaction to a journalist suggesting he could be sold for sub 10m. We could probably get him for 15-20m I reckon.
