Sunflower (Helianthus annuus)

Maybe our new signing had some food last night that was a bit too spicy for him. it's obviously not going to be Jonnhy Cash with his ring of fire though.

The problem with this type of ITK is that it's basically who POTL (or any other ITK for that matter) knows we are being linked with and perhaps will make a move for. This doesn't always guarantee we will make that final step or even the initial steps to try and thrash a deal out - as we found out during the previous windows.

An ITK knowing we're interested in a player and us actually signing the player in question are often way apart in terms of it coming to fruition.

I guess we can just go with it and hope something comes of it all. We haven't been quite so lucky over the past couple of windows.

I think Rossi has more in common with Keane than Defoe.

Agree. He's more intelligent and also gets beyond defences in a way Keane used to much more than Defoe.

A lot quicker, more clinical and better than either though.

I think we should take a moment to thank POTL. So many complained that there was no ITK and this was the Worst.Transfer Window.Ever. and with one word he has made so many lives better. He's like a succinct Santa. Because we all know nothing is happening.

From Wiki:

Sunflower (Helianthus annuus) is an annual plant native to the Americas. It possesses a large inflorescence (flowering head) (Big Headed player?) . The sunflower got its name from its huge, fiery blooms, whose shape and image is often used to depict the sun. The sunflower has a rough, hairy stem, broad, coarsely toothed, (Tevez?) rough leaves and circular heads of flowers. The heads consist of 1,000-2,000 individual flowers joined together by a receptacle base.
From the Americas, sunflower seeds were brought to Europe in the 16th century, (We're signing a ghostly historic figure?) where, along with sunflower oil (Cristiano Ronaldo?) they became a widespread cooking ingredient. Leaves of the sunflower can be used as cattle feed, (Tony Adams?) while the stems contain a fibre which may be used in paper production

I don't care who Sunflower refers to (to a degree obviously), I'm just happy it may suggest that we're gonna do some business.

Dan reckons that POTL is the Charlie fella that left last week.

It isn't, but he's still pushing it.

..I've clearly missed something. Can you elaborate please?

It's an account used by the club's marcoms department. Charlie Wijeratna, the main user over the past year, left the club by 'mutual consent' last week.

The nature of POTL's info - often quite good, frequently based on opinion as much as info and usually positive - particularly his morale-boosting posts after transfer windows had shut, used to make me think he was a club employee. The most likely scenario I could think of was that he was someone close to Donna Cullen - ie worked in the press office or publications department. His stuff always seemed to be leaked out to smooth dissent and create an atmosphere of perpetual optimism and intangible, vague excitement However, the last couple of windows and all the yellow and blue crap have lead me to increasingly doubt this possibility.
