AVB's first of many mistakes if true.

how can you possibly know that, without knowing how the team will be set up or who he has in mind as a forward option? if we went out and signed Falcao or Higuain (for example) would it be a mistake? would it not be a mistake to sign Adebayor if he isnt going to fit the system or style of play?

for the record i would like us to sign him, but its a strange comment when we dont know any actual details yet

This is just my opinion. I honestly think AVB will switch us to 433.

My mate is a Liverpool season ticket holder and drives up from London for every match. Obviously he reads Liverpool forums. He's adamant Defoe was on his way to Liverpool in Jan but his own agent stalled the deal! I believe defoe changed agents after that happend.

Anyway the reason why I mentioned this now... I think Defoe will struggle to play in a 433! Time will tell....

I don't think there's any question on this one, he will definitely switch us to 4-3-3, there are numerous interviews and articles on his preferred style of play and we also happen to be short on strikers, so it makes perfect sense.

tim vickery did a big thing on talksport the other day. brazilians/latin americans that arrive in Europe at a big club have little sucess ex riquelme, forla, veron etc dont often succeed. But if join a smaller club dabi alves, romario, ronaldinho, deco usually have more success and a better career

Tim talking some sense for once, actually to his credit Tim is best at looking at the history of football rather than scouting and so this is a pretty spot on assessment from him.

Some ask who is in his plans! Worth a try. ;) What sort of forward does AVB normally like

He was only at Academica 8 months, Porto 1 season and Chelsea 8 months, meaning he hasn't had much time in management so it's hard to say? His greatest success was with Falcao in the middle of a 3, so maybe he'll favour someone more explosive and mobile than Ade?

Even if we got the Oscar thing sorted quickly, players like him rarely arrive in the Premiership firing on all cylinders. I'd guess a young South American new to the country and league would need at least a season to acclimatise.

That's not a reason not to buy him if he's any good but it is a reason not to build next season's midfield around him.

Agree, outside chance he could find his feet in half a season.

I agree, what catergory do we fall under?

Hmm. Interesting ITK. Though I've always wanted Ade to sign, I (like a lot of people on here I think) were thinking in more of a rotated Striker role. Plenty of game time, but not a guaranteed starter. We really need a 20 goals a season striker, someone really clinical in front of goal. I'm not so sure if signing Ade as someone that didn't start every game would be such a good idea. The toys could come out of the pram... especially if AVB isn't the "arm around the shoulder" type. Are we big enough in Ade's mind, for him to be happy not to start every game? That is the question!

Think Lennon might struggle in that formation to. Need all of the front 3 to score goals, and cant load up on players thats good at setting up others. hence why we have been linked to so many goal scoring offensive midfielders like Sturridge, Dzagoev, Gylfi and Oscar lately.

Maybe AVB has sat down with his transfer/wages budget, taken one look at Adebayor's potential contribution to the wages and signing on budget and thought: 'Fuck that, he was like bambi on ice for half of last season, I can do better AND for less money.'

(Don't get me wrong, I like Adebayor, but I expected him to be more clinical, lethal even. Perhaps he just wants a finisher as the focal point of his front 3.)

Lennon imo will be arevelation if given licence to attack in a three. Finishing is improving and he will have more licence to go inside where he is very dangerous! Lennon will go to a new level imo. just hope he gets his chance

So many fans of other clubs dont rate him, glad he didnt go to the Euros but he should have. So gald we never bought Dowling, Milner or Young. Lennon could thrive.
