I don't know if someone has said this (TBH reading the pages back was a bit of a weird experience), but I think one of JJ's tweets strongly suggests that we want Alderweireld. I'm going to have to copy them again to make my point.

So this guy asks:
yatta yatta yatta
I've added this to the RO……

But don't start thinking you're now a whore. Junior Slut will do for now :woot:

Just when I had laid MS to rest ....Trix had to come and stir up some faint hope again
It really is a long shot though imo, we're at the end of the chain begging for scraps. Not a situation I'm going to emotionally invest in.

@jetsetyid @danieljohn4 @Adam79Suter what about the Toby and kono rumours truth in any ?

To which JJ replies:

The original JJetset ‏@jetsetyid 15h15 hours ago
@jamie_d_9 @danieljohn4 @Adam79Suter wait and see

So that suggests that there is truth in one of them. However, when someone asks

Again, sorry if someone has said exactly what I have said.

Are you sure? Why on earth does that suggest there is any truth? 'Wait and see' is the key phrase and 'Wait' the word.

Having had mucho experience of JJ'isms, for me 'wait and see' does indeed hint at something. Usually you'd get something a bit more concrete such as 'no' or 'not as far as I know' or something similar…...If not you'd think he'd have learned by now to not be such a pricktease :p

As things stand Ourselves, Arsenal and Yanited have all declared an interest in signing MS, and both PSG and Citeh have asked to be kept informed of any developments. He is our first choice option, where as it appears he is not for any of the other cubs and they are all actively chasing other options with MS being their plan B. This is what we are hoping is our USP, and it sounds now as if MS and his agent have set a deadline for concrete offers. IE make me an offer or get off the pot. Arsenal I'm told are confident of Vidal and are holding out to make sure he comes through this tournament first.
It is not the case that he has chosen anyone as yet and he has said he wants to wait and weigh up all his options, but it is assumed(by us) that should he get a concrete offer from either of the others he will go there. He is not however willing to hang around for weeks only to be blown out for Vidal for example. Deadline is this week so we are still very much in with a chance, although it is as much in the hands of others as it is in our own.

TBH i would not have joined a company if that company thinks i am their second option and they want others first at my place .. I would join a company which one wants me more badly !! Hopefully MS understands this and sign for spurs at the end of this weekend..

So he's our plan A, but also 4 CL team's plan B, and we're his plan F - got a feeling that 'F' may stand for something we're not going to like...

I'm hoping the part about MS wanting resolution by next week is correct, it ties in with his media statements about making up his mind in the next few days. Says to me he doesn't want to start preseason at St Marys.

So the picture for me stacks as Vidal coming through the copa America unscathed and Arsenal signing him to join up with his mate Alexis.

Man Utd signing Bastien from injury prone Bayern, Van Gaal's preferred option and the big name Utd fans need and desire. MS doesn't fulfil the big name factor.

I think we would be ahead of PSG being in the premier league, which just leaves City who are unlikely to plump for him by next week.

I am optimistic.

With regards to Vidal, how long until the end of the Copa America?

If his agent has set a deadline, then the team I would be worried about is United. I get the impression Schweinsteiger is a much more difficult deal to do than Vidal. Let's just hope they get some encouragement on it by next week though.

Even if all this happens and there are no concrete offers, I still rate our chances as slim. I still think him and his agent will be reluctant and he won't want to commit to us. And then there's the small matter of agreeing a fee, which will be without a doubt long and drawn out with DL.

You get the impression this one could still go tits up Willian style at any moment as he doesn't seem to completely want us, especially if Levy fucks about with the fee which, let's be honest, he probably will do.

In a way, him going elsewhere next week could be a blessing in disguise, as hopefully this is the reason we haven't heard too much on other midfield targets. The best case scenario would be if we had a few irons in the fire ready for quick completion once we have confirmation that MS will not be arriving at WHL but history tells us we'll be in full blown panic mode.

Just a reminder (because it seems its needed) please don't swan into the thread and post information without giving a source. And if I find out that source is Twitter…….the consequences for your bumhole and that of your mums will be dire.

You might be tempted to swallow your pride if they were able to pay you a lot more than the one who wants you most!!

I am over MS. He would have been a really good fit here, and I think would have really helped Bentaleb/Mason/Alli develop (not to mention the back line), but I prefer to at least hold on to the illusion that players want to come here, not that Spurs will do when nobody else wants them.

But if that company that wants you as a second option is gonna pay you half again what the company that most desires you is going to pay and your prospects are likely to be be far greater overall you are going to wait and see - for a while anyway - as you know the company which has its heart set on you will still be there waiting, if the other options peter out.

Tbf we should be the ones saying to MS, "look, buddy, we like you and you are our #1 pick and will be treated like a prince if you come here, but here's OUR deadline for you to make your mind up as we've got a team to build".

It doesn't bother me as long as he comes. He likes the manager and I think he'd prefer us to a stay at Southampton.

He'll probably earn a hefty pay rise too, so don't think he'd be too unhappy. Having said that he'll wait longer than a week if there's still nothing concrete from the bigger clubs, i'm sure of that.

Copa America ends July 4th - currently group stages over and into the knock out rounds (Lamela and Argentina into semi finals, and Vidal/Chile v Peru in the other).

So about a week to know if he comes through uninjured , less if not in the finals

Edit @WiganSpur - Plenty of press speculation that Vidal is about to sign, but Arsenal are one of several possible destinations

If MS chooses us (assuming reports from ITK are true) over Man Citeh, Man Ure, Arsenal or PSG then that proves once and for all that football players are fucking stupid. And this from a die hard Spurs fan since 65'

Let's move along everyone, nothing new to see on this subject.

1. I don't think City and PSG are that serious, plus doubts about if he would want to leave the PL?
2. He may not have the choice of Utd or Arsenal since they have targets higher up their lists

He's not stupid, but he'd chose us over a stay at Saints I think.
