I'll save you all from the Twitter ban :p Burt reckons Paulinho has gone.

For 14m euros (about £9.6m).

Could be worse, good that we're starting to shift the deadwood, even at a loss. Change from the last few years, which I guess is promising.

As for MS I do think he'll join us if there are no offers by his deadline. He won't want to risk staying there again after last summer.

That said I fully expect man utd to cough up the cash beforehand

If we are only ones in for him how can he choose them? They haven't bid and we could be only ones at that time wanting him... If am honest we must be kind of confident as we seem to be holding out entirely for him until he makes his mind up

But we are not the only ones in for him. Jezzzus.

Won't happen I'm sure of it. Hoping for Kramer, expecting N'Zonzi!

Agree, I will cheer for him, as i do any Spurs player, but i will know that we are his sloppy seconds and he really didn't want to be here
if you were moving jobs and you had four companies interested in you, wouldn't you take your time to listen to all options and offers before choosing.

If one of the companies were serious, and made a determined effort to get me, and had been trying for a year, and the other 3 were showing a passing interest but were looking at other candidates for the role, it would take me 10 secs to decide who to go for, the one that wanted me the most

I imagine it gets slightly more complicated when the company that wants you is probably looking to pay you 30%-70% less than the ones looking at other candidates.

Poch is the reason for MS developing from handy squad player into superstar, in 1 year under Poch's coaching he became the best in the premiership in his position stats wise, and fans player of the year, whereas under previous management he was a solid player who never pulled up any trees

He comes to Spurs he will be reunited with his mentor and man who made him the player he is, goes elsewhere he might be able to buy a new Rolls every few months, but would not be same player

Technically, its probably not a loss, given that we have already written off at least 40% of his transfer cost.

Player Amortisation is it? Always gets mentioned when the financial reports are out.

Best part of £10mill for Paulinho is a fair price I think.

One that's trying offering 50k per year, the others that very interested is a better job and on 100k a year. You wouldn't wait to find out?

Wouldn't exactly describe him as a handy squad player considering he started the vast majority of games since day he arrived there.
He was just as good basically last season under a different manager so he's not gonna go backwards no matter where he goes.

Sometimes it's made out like Pochettino found him in a slum and gave him the chance to be a professional footballer sometimes. Before Poch got there he was a 21 year old with only a few months of prem experience under his belt. Yes Poch helped him a lot and he improved but a lot could've been down to age and experience in a top league.

He wasn't exactly doing badly before he arrived anyhow, pretty sure he was highly rated by Soton fans and must have been doing something right considering weekly chosen from 18-21yrs old when Poch took over.

Kind of amuses me that MS would be welcomed here like an all-conquering hero when he'll have settled for us as a back-up option, whereas people who seem delighted to be Spurs players get mercilessly slagged off.

Beautifully said.

Hit agree, then winner, just for the effect.

I hit "winner" about five times, purely in the hope that an extra would go through.

It seems as if we Spurs fans have some strange inferiority complex, such that should any who wants to play for us disgusts us, and we want the ones which perceive us as "fallback" options. I get that that such quality players are the way to push on and up, but balancing them with some guys who desire to wear the chicken badge is extremely beneficial for team chemistry and identity.

Plus we would never have paud 17M upfront, maybe poch had alreqdy said he is not part of his plans, levys brain twitched remebering the cluase in the contrat of number of games or prem games played and therefore used sparingly, imwonder how many clubs end getting the full 1uoted price, so many milestones to hit within contract and im sure levy is the master of that!

I also don't think if he does choose us, he will be any less likely to play hard and to play well. Maybe if he hadn't played for the manager before, but he has so he knows exactly what he is signing up for if he comes to us.

We forget that this is a career for these men so it is subject to similar dynamics that we all go through in career moves and really taking a hard look at the success you expect to have at a new place and salary and the enjoyment of being there

All well and good but we seem to have developed a brilliant knack of replacing deadwood with future deadwood.

Bloating the squad with average to good players isn't the way forward for us if we do want to have any higher aspiration than 5th place finishes.
