Ozil joined Arsenal in September 2013, ithink prices have gone up a bit since then
True but the same year we signed Christian Eriksen for £11.5m at the age of 21 who's been playing since he was 16 years old one of the top hot prospects in Europe. I still think we will go for a younger cheaper person I can't see Tottenham paying £40m plus for a Real Madrid squad player.

Eriksen was in the last year of his contract and could have left for nothing 6 months later.

Good point. Equally, I can't see anyone in Europe, except Utd because they've more money than sense, and Chelsea because Isco is a huge upgrade on Pedro, spending 40 million on him.

From the games I've watched Isco not from YouTube he gave the ball away a lot he doesn't seem to be as good as people say he is or real wouldn't sell him. Toby has bettter long ball passing than him. Cristian stats are much better than Isco yes he's played more games but look at the players Isco is surrounded with compared to us Ronaldo has more goals than games played. Then include bale and co.

Real were reportedly asking €45-50m in the summer. With Isco being in high demand and can't see them lowering the fee.

He's not worth it for that price ozil signed for arsenal £42.4m who was a first team regular for Real Madrid, Yet where going to pay the same price for someone who hardly gets a game and warms the bench can't see levy doing that.

However, since September 2013 and since last summer, Isco's short unexpired contract has become even shorter. It expires at the end of next season. I think that outweighs the changing market.

Also need to look at the opponents he is facing. Sure, there are some fantastic teams and players in La Liga, but there are also some teams that would struggle in the Championship.

This is a league where Soldado can get double figures. I'm sure all the megastars seem amazing to the kiddies on FIFA with their 5 star dribbling. The reality is somewhat more complicated.

I do think that with Soldado it was more down to the style of play (competition + team) than standard, but I did always have a soft spot for him. Plenty more examples to choose from though!

People often use a supposed lack of European success to determine that the English top flight is weaker than in Spain and Germany, but I really don't think that's a valid way to compare leagues.
If La Liga is so strong, why it is common for Real Madrid / Barcelona to scrape CL wins against teams from 'inferior' leagues whilst using their best XI, but then absolutely hammer a league opponent with their second string players a few days before/after?
In the strongest league, teams wouldn’t be able to freely rotate their players to keep fresh for the CL, without dropping points as a consequence, so this would make it very difficult to do well in both competitions. Sound familiar anyone?
English teams have achieved some impressively average league finishes in the season that they have won the CL / European Cup: Liverpool – 5th, Chelsea – 6th, Aston Villa – 11th (I believe that is the continental record for worst league performance by the European Champions).
I would guess that England has provided more different winners of the Champions League / European Cup than any other nation (or is at least very close to it), although I haven't checked this. Off the top of my head, five different English teams (United, Liverpool, Villa, Forest & Chelsea) have won it, compared to only two or three from each of Spain (Real & Barca), Italy (Milan, Inter & Juve) and Germany (Bayern, Dortmund & Hamburg). Also, three different winners in the last 12 years (United, Chelsea & Liverpool), and it wasn't so long ago that we had 3/4 semi-finalists. Clearly no strength in depth in English football.

Actually, after thinking all of that through, we should cough up £100m for Isco, as he'll almost definitely be the best player in the league.

A Real Madrid squad player is still 2 levels above anybody we have. We are not on the same planet as real Madrid ffs.

Our squad has improved a lot since this statement was last correct. Kane, Alli, Alderweireld, Lloris, Walker, Rose and arguably others are all better than their squad players.

Personally I think Isco would be the only player we try and bring in this month. I actually think he is more suited to the way Arse play and probably more likely to end up there.

Just don't see Madrid selling anyone in January while they are chasing La Liga and ECL. The fact they have a transfer embargo until the summer simply reinforces this view.
