I still have a feeling we will go back for Leandro or Moutinho in Jan, depending on how the team is performing.

If its true we missed out on Moutinho by 4 minutes, then someones head has got to roll on this one.......these are multi million pound deals and mistakes like this are inexcusable. Yes I am disappointed we did not sign him, but I am more disappointed we are going into the season with only 2 strikers up front in Ade and Defoe. I know many will see Dempsey as a striker, but I think we are considerably light in this area and really fear for us if Ade gets injured or is seriously off form.
That apart our dealings look good - Lloris is french numero uno so that should be one position sorted for a while.
Dempsey has goals in him and works like a dog, ok he is not Rafa but offers other qualities Rafa didnt. Dembele could be worth 30 million in a few years , high hopes for him, time will tell.Vertonghen looks the part and the only one I have doubts about is siguardson, mainly because I have seen feck all off him.
Its a relief TW is over and we can all get back to supporting our club, who despite the fact we may not have had the ultimate window , I still think we have a genuine shot for top 4.........COYS

We'll get Moutinho before Jan imo, can see AVB getting on Levy's back to have it sewn up before the window opens to prevent Porto goings nuts on the price.

Me too, but we'll probably wait until the last day to sign them and miss out as usual :(.

But its not just one of those things.....its a multi-million pound deal and IMO its not what happened anyway. I suspect we agreed a fee with Porto and they then announced last minute that the fee we agreed was for only 85% of the player and we had to still pay someone else for the other 15% ? ? ?
Either way everyone is entitled to their opinion and I for one have always backed DL at our club..........now not so sure, but hopefully we have january to rectify any issues

Well I blame SC for all the doom and gloom on here.

You heard there was going to be a meltdown but you cheap bastards refused to spend big on quality salt but instead asked for donations.........................hang on! I think Rob is Levy
Think we would have had a meltdown last night if it hadn't been for Rob upgrading the server (y)

So thanks for that and I will be making a donation soon.

For me, this is the single most important piece of imformation over the last few days. Personally I think we had a good window, think we strengthened overall, but my one concern was whether AVB would be happy, especially after the Moutinh deal fell apart. The one thing we simply could not afford was a clash so early into his tenure between him and Levy.

This puts my mind at rest.

while it is good to read avb's comments, he was hardly going to come out and slag the board off so I'm not convinced he's 100 per cent happy with what took place...like I said last night, not perfect window by any means, but there are good signings

I have a feeling it was more like Porto represented that they could negotiate for both parties without actually having the consent of the 3rd party owners.

Apparently i have to repost this...

-First of all: i believe the 4 minutes is just an invention from that Portuges tabloid.

-Second of all: what would you do as Levy if that fucking Pini guy (who has a 15% stake in Mouthinho) during the closing stages of the deal sudenly renegged on the deal and asked for say 10million punds more? This is why third party ownership should be completely forbidden. The third party owners are ONLY interested in getting maximum value. They dont care where Mouthinho plays so if they are disappointed in a deal they could probably scupper it easily.

I think we will use our new additions in a 4-3-3:

Lloris
Walker Kaboul Vertonghen Assou-Ekotto
Sigurdsson Sandro Dembele
Dempsey Adebayor Bale
Which quite frankly is littered with goals. Also it is full of players who can take set pieces which is really strange considering we haven't really taken decent set pieces in years.
To me at least that is rather impressive and is full of players who play in the positions AVB usually like to utilise. You can also bet this team will work tirelessly off the ball and close people down. If we add Moutinho and Leandro in January I think we could be right up there.
I think you may be right with the system there. It will be interesting to see how long it takes AVB to change things. He may feel that now the wndow is closed he can set his formation, or he may continue with 4-2-3-1 for a while longer while he gets an understanding of the players he has.

Could Dembele play alongside Sandro in a central 2 with Sigurdson in the attacking midfield role? AVB likes his midfield 3 to interchange though and I can see them being worked on a lot in training. That midfield trio is crucial for controlling the game and we've got good alternatives for each player with Parker, Livermore, Huddlestone and Carrol.

It looks a very offensive side though as you say, and Adebayor is the perfect player for the attacking players to play off. We really need to keep him fit to be at our best.

At least we can look forward to another season of attacking free flowing football. We may not have 1 out and out goalscorer but we've got plenty of goals to be distributed throughout the squad.

The whole 3rd party thing is ludicrous, especially when you consider they have prevented the player himself from getting a move. I bet Moutinho is pretty pissed off today. I really hope he moves in Jan, and maybe we can do the deal soon so we have him already for Jan 1st.

porto arent mugs, i assume the 3rd party dispute was a ploy from them to see the transfer fee closer to where they wanted

Some really positive talk about our new signings. When i look back over it, we have brought in players (except the keeper) with premier league experience which is a good plus. I feel Levy tried his best with Mr M but was dealing with some difficult characters to say the least. we now have a good platform to build on, with the players who are already with us. 3 points today and a cold pint will do me!

I think I read on here yesterday that that slug Kia Joorabchian owns the 15%, he is a greedy **** so I blame him mostly
