I would argue that Lamela is as like for like replacement and challenger for Eriksen as you will get. Both lack pace and are lost on the wing in a system where they are supposed to provide the width - but just as Eriksen excels in the 3-5-2 so would Lamela. Lamela is the only other player who can spot the defence splitting pass like Eriksen, his movement is great and his set piece delivery is actually probably better than the Dane's. We just need to get him fit again and hope he can continue where he left off as he was just coming into his stride before the injury.

Window gets a 6.5-7/10 for me.

The players we signed are quality and probably the best we could get, we kept most key players (bar one) and we were never far away anyhow.

Downside, it couldn't really be more than a 7 with no attacking mid signed and a key player departing.

So 6.5...maybe the extra 0.5 if the Barkley stuff is true and we did over Chelsea.

Thanks to all involved, good ITK and extremely well run site, so big up to the main peeps around here. You only have to go to other sites and see the pure garbage they let pass as ITK to realise why this place gets so busy at the end compared to others.

Summary of the window. We have to commend Daniel Levy. There were differences of opinions between him and Poch. I think it is safe to say both saw the light. There is absolutely no way anyone can criticise Daniel and moan about our missed targets, and 'Pinch of salt' ITK's who have given you very accurate, and honest updates, be it positive or negative. We do cross reference on occasions know ;)

Big shout out to Rob (Governor) and A&C, for their excellent work. Before I go any further, I will be donating £50 between today and tomorrow. Bosses please inbox me to remind me.

I will bullet point what was said with results and reasons, to the best of my knowledge.

1. Ross Barkley=As was said all along, not fully fit, and issues with his injury, we wanted to deal at figure which will not go public, but less than chavs, but not much less. He came to London, hoping to be diverted William style, but Everton refused to talk to us, as chavs tried Daniel's famous (after Willian) exclusivity clause:ROFLMAO:

When it became apparent after a flea got in his ear Ross scarpered, to return on our terms in January.

2. Our contingency was Gomez as loan with option to buy. We were more keen on the loan with option in our favour, and not Barca. We would have to of made a commitment to buy either way. In the region of 40 plus million. Poch was asked, and was not keen. Daniel then walked away.

3. Llorente was the silent one, and so silent that our relationship with Swansea made sure it stayed that way. Chavs wanted to deal earlier in the window, but Swans wanted Bony, but couldn't deal until GS was sold. We were tipped off by their hierarchy that bid was accepted by Spanish club, and chavs. Poch made a personal call to him. Once that was done chavs stood no chance. This is all Poch.

4. VJ, Poch loves him as a person, and admires his attitude. Poch wants it to work for him, and told him he needs 3 specialist strikers, and with all the games he would get his games.

5. DS= Without our backroom staff this deal would not even of developed. We had been talking to Ajax, having a full dossier on him. Chavs were very keen, along with the two Spanish giants. Also Bayern were keen. He spent a lot of time talking to Poch, and eventually that swayed it. He was shown videos of our complex and stadium. Enough said.

6. SA=Another one down to our backroom staff. Daniel commissioned experts he trusts in France, along with very highly regarded legal counsel in the U.K., who were liaison with appropriate authorities to risk assess. Once they knew it was over, SA was so confident he declined Yanited and chavs especially. Poch played a blinder also.

7. Foyth=Came out of Poch's influence and connections. Daniel, you naughty boy what you did with PSG. Can we say they were never serious?

8. GK=Poch wants 3, and convinced he will prove a shrewd signing, and rates his staff to improve him beyond compare. He also showed well in Spain.

9. Wing forward, we had a few options, but reasons we pulled with Poch's blessings. Zaha is interesting, and may be revisited later. All down to Poch, and Zaha has 35m clause that becomes effective around April.

10. Jadon could be a Zaki Fryers in January or summer. Watch this space.

11. Dembele will be utilised in advanced roles, subject to matches. Due to our pacey defensive additions.

12. Lamela is not far off, and will be used in No. 10 role. Hope it works out for him, because if not Roma is calling.

13. Danny boy Rose is happy. No issues with him. Still think he may go amicably end of season. We promised him that. Key to that will be if he is upgraded in his contract, as all the ones we want will be. Don't worry about Toby. All good.

There you have it. No moaning please. Overall we done good business. COYS!!!
Many thanks. Your information has been great. Thanks for sharing.

Barkley and Sessegnon would of been great additions, but other than that I'm pretty happy with the signings we've made.

Usually we sell a good player and spend the money on fuckwits, but this time we've sold a fuckwit and spent the money on good players instead.

Lllorente the pick for me - very happy with this one. If we keep Janssen as well then we've gone from #signastrikerlevy to #howmanystrikersdoyouwantustohaveonourbenchlevy

Thanks to the Mods and ITKs.

Llorente will be a massive signing for us, not only as an individual but gives us a much needed style in play. I'm sure some "purests" will disagree but against a deep lying team it gives us the same option that Fellini gives United, but of course Llorente is a much less obtuse player. Could turn at least a few draws into wins. We have plenty of players capable of delivering a longer range pass, hopefully Hugo can find him too.

Looking at some of his goals last season he is a hell of a finisher, especially with his back to goal. So many times in the last 10-15 mins we continue with the sideways passes and hopefully he will give us a little more urgency getting the ball forward.

I'm afraid not. We never went back in for him. We may have spoken to the player but not Palace. Our low wage offer is the main reason Zaha signed a new deal at Palace. If we really wanted him the deal was there to be done last transfer window when the Palace owner thought Zaha was off.

Shit like this pisses me off, but it must infuriate Poch.

Separate note. We signed FL for long ball teams. When we have to adapt our style etc. He is also excellent technically. Late in matches game-changer. Don't laugh:sneaky:

Can only really judge the window retrospectively

Just shows it helps to have good club relations

Wonder what the finance itk was about as nothing more seemed to materialise after

enjoyed Chelsea getting stiffed more than once. I wonder why they've lost lustre?

Also wonder what the psg tactic on foyth was. Were we the only ones after him then.

Sounds like 3 top draw defensive signings, a good mature forward and hopefully a native argie keeper to be transformed by the staff.

Ok nothing wildly spectacular, it sounds like we tried with various attacking options but were scuppered.

Maybe we have first buy option somehow on sancho, should dortmund not want to continue with him

I hope we can recreate the barca passing style of cutting teams open like in the final 2 games last season, but was that to do with nothing to play for syndrome?

Should be aiming for title but expecting / hoping for top 4.

I think he is for us. He brings something we don't have otherwise. As an aside, we are going to be a physically scary team when you add Sanchez, Aurier and Llorente on the field.

Genuinely like this signing absolute beast in the box just pump it on he'll get on the end of it! With Kane and Alli looking off him! Also top level modern defenders struggle against this type of player

Thanks for taking the time to put together such a comprehensive review of the window. I have never seen the like of this before and all makes great sense. Much appreciated as well as being very positive

Personally i thought it was a very strong window for us. I don't have an issue in not getting Barkley in as he would not have offered us anything until the end of the year anyway.

IMO it would have been good to have got a loan midfielder in, but i feel we have just about enough depth with the current squad, especially if we start playing 3-4-2-1 more often, which i think we will.

We definitely have a stronger squad than last season and to be honest the competition could even be a healthy thing for Sissoko and VJ - both of which are good players, they just haven't gone into their stride at Spurs. I also like the idea of Edwards playing a bigger part this season.

I'll admit, I'm jealous of watching the insane speed and athleticism in attack at Liverpool (Salah, Firmino, Mane), but to play that way, we would need a whole lot more than one mystery wing forward with pace. The reality is that we aren't that team.
Not sure why. I would take Dele, Kane and Eriksen over them every day of the week

@Hercules, as others have said thanks for all your info throughout the TW. It has helped to keep some of us relatively sane anyway!

I do like the info that Dembele and Lamela will be playing further forward, it does give Eriksen a bit of cover and Dembele could be a really beast against the bus-parkers.

What is going to be unfortunate is that Levy can carry on doing this but the rest of the league and world will be following this astronomical pricing so he'll have to change his ways at some point or be left behind.

How awful is this? Since yesterday my general mood has improved no end. I recognise that this friggin' transfer window was actually interfering with my mental state. Mods, ban me now. ;)
