Sky Sources understand that André Schurrle wants to join Wolfsburg.
Chelsea are believed to want more than £22.5m for the out of favour winger but no offer has yet been made from the German club.

Why aren't we on this?? Probably the most underrated player in the EPL. He would definitely help our cause!

Doubt they will entertain a bid from us, but agree he would be a good if not great signing.

Pretty amazing to see the Lovren signing held against poch when saints more than doubled their investment in him after only one season.

He was a huge success at Southampton. Flopping at Pool has nothing to do with Poch. If anything it shows how good of a coach he is.

Baldie has ways to go around it. Get a club buy him now, and then get him in the summer for 0.5mio more!

Yes....because that would be a hell of a sales pitch.

"Go to Standard Liege for 6 months and then come to Spurs, please do ignore the fact that the 2nd place team in the Bundesliga (who have plenty of money and are known to pay very good wages) are bidding for you....i mean, you are German and all...but you aren't THAT German are you?"

Under Pochettino Lovren was a) very good b) made the club a significant profit. Not sure what else you can want from a manager.

The fact that Rodgers spent a fair amount of the opening part of the season with Gerrard at CDM and then has spaegoated Lovren a fair bit is hardly Pochettino's responsibility.

That's fair enough, but I'm still glad we didn't get him

one very good VFM, one average buy and one who's, shall we say, a little unstable? Is it worrying to think that the latter may well have been scouted by our new bloke Mitchell, who supposedly looks into the player as a whole, including a history of lamping teammates on the training ground?

Poch wanted him because he was a good player for him at Espanyol. Can't really blame Mitchell as I imagine it was a "he was good for me" scenario from Poch.

The underlined bit perhaps? I like Schurrle if he was £10M but close to £25M is crazy.

The sad reality is we cannot rely on Soldado and Adebayor but I can't imagine there being any takers for either of them for permanent deals that Levy would deem acceptable. If that is the case the club need to still sign another striker. It would be suicide if we didn't. One quality striker that can hit the ground running either partnering Kane or coming on for Kane is an absolute must. I hope Poch has the balls to demand we sign one

I wouldn't say Lovren would get in our team now - he's been a shambles at Liverpool.

I don't really think that Wanyama would offer us more more than we've already got - he was good at Celtic, but has blended into the background at So'ton if you ask me.

Played 19 out of 22 league games in central midfield for the team that is 3rd in the league. More of a starring role and complete success story in my book.

I'd want my holding midfielder to blend into the background to be honest. Better that than star with some glaring errors.

Hate to say it, but based on his transfer history I'd say no one really worth having! He bought Lovren, Wanyama and Osvaldo for £37.5m at Southampton, so perhaps not the best in hindsight.

If he did buy players of his own free will and reign, I'd expect better returns.
Lovren was doing well at Soton because of the team he was in. Poch improved him to the point were pool were silly enough to pay 20m for him. Wanyama has been imperious in their midfield all season. Osvaldo is a bit of a nutcase but you can't expect Poch not to try to sign a player he's worked with. FYI Koeman signed Saphir Taider and we all know how well that turned out.

Just trying to point out that Poch does know what he's doing and that even the man who replaced him, who seems to have the midas touch this season, is equally human.

You could compare Dembele in a similar way, but some times players should be standing out more like Schneiderlin.

I rate Bentaleb higher, let's just say.

Ball retention, flashes of creativity and general industry are attributes I'd want. Where did Wanyama come from in the thread by the way? Are we linked or is it a kind of player we should be looking at?

agree with your assessment of what it takes to for him/ENIC to spend meaningfully (2 from 8, Bale sale) but not sure if you're suggesting my buy-sell summary is "mad"? The problem is it really isn't mad, and would actually represent a net spend of no more than 10 mill plus six months or wages, ie totally negligible if we flog Townsend too in the summer which I'd personally like to see. We've seen his performance ceiling now.

I think if we can get Schneiderlin then we should get Schneiderlin. And the outlay now is worth the risk for the long term good.
But for the reason you have stated, ie we are 'comfortable' i dont think Levy will.

I think we have shunned investment in the past when we should have struck whilst the iron was hot (CL qualification, the NelsenSaha window).

It was a question about who Poch would sign if he had free choice, so a comparison of the three players he bought at Southampton

We are an injury/burnout to Kane away from being 10th this season, he has carried us, him and Eriksen

Another striker would have seen us have a serious shot at Top 4

Levy and Lewis are complete and utter ****s, just interested in money/no ambition, the business equivalent of Adebayor

Can I ask how you KNOW it's the fault of Levy and Lewis? You are in no position to call them "****s" , unless you've spoken to them or Pochettino and they've told you themselves. Have you?

You can say "well history suggests I'm right", but every situation is an individual situation, so the past counts for absolutely nothing, and laying the blame solely upon 2 men you clearly have an issue with is just plain wrong, in my opinion.
