A fully fit squad and we have a bench of Vorm, Trippier/Davies, Wimmer, Son, Njie, Wanyama/Dembele & Jansen.
But we are not upgrading our first XI in a season of CL, after a season of title-run.. And with a superb stadium coming up, it should be matching to an ambition greater than this..

Mason at 10-12, Carroll at 8?

That leaves our haul at Townsend (12) + Bentaleb (17) + Chadi (13) + Yedlin (5) + Pritchard (8) + Mason (12) + Carroll (8) = That's £75m in outs.

We may often have a 0 net spend, but we've never made a £45m profit! Even with GKN and Lopez we'd still have 20+ to spend.

Hopefully that's Isco money, not Zaha money.

Would like both. Always liked Zaha

You say this, but I never expected us to really mount a title challenge or be a CL team until the new season. I think people have expectation without appreciating the achievements of last season. I think we need to be patient until the new stadium comes along and not moaning simply because players we are linked to via the press or ITK don't end up being signed.

Dahlia is native to Mexico.

Can anyone think of a decent Mexican player that plays in blue?

Unless that their intention.

We heard the same argument with not bringing in a DM last season and we know what the rationale for that was in the end.

True. But we're in the Champions League now and every team around us in the league has strengthened.

Feels at the moment as if we'll be very light on both fronts.

Let's see though.

To be honest I think we've had a late change of heart. I know we normally leave it late, as do most Clubs really, but I think a few factors have altered our stance.

Firstly the bigger Clubs have all invested heavily and all have hit the ground running really - immediate impacts, bar the Goons. It's already clear that this season won't be like last, with most of the big Clubs under performing.

And the comments Poch made post Liverpool game are telling. Although Liverpool look shaky at the back their pace and attacking prowess has been extremely evident.

Add all this to our slow and cumbersome sort of start, albeit more in performance than points on the board and I'm not surprised if we're feeling a little apprehensive.

Perhaps we've decided to amp up our attack with more pace/quality if we can shift on a few more than originally planned.

What you say makes sense...But only if he start getting replacements in. I would have rather signed our targets then released the bench warmers.Anyway, lets see

Hopefully Poch is starting to cotton on that attack is the best form of defence. Look at some of the best teams in Europe, they don't have the best individual defenders but have frightening offensive players. Sadly we're miles always from having this mindset as we currently lack the personnel.

Our wafer thin squad was knackered by the end of the season last year, and we got lucky with injuries. I can't believe we've got rid of so many players. We've got no depth now, it's a bit scary to be honest....there has to be some in comings surely?

My best guess at the cryptic is Cesc Fabergas. He's a blue A M from Chelsea (flower show)
Also ties in with Grey Fox's it wont be Pogbaesque but will suprise people.
Best I can do I'm afraid :bag:

I think Poch is starting to realize that if he wants the club to actually have some staying power, players that aren't going to make the grade need to be shifted out sooner rather than later. I think you could see this coming since Dortmund last season and it's been pretty obvious the first couple of matches this season. We need more quality in the squad and if we need to raise funds, this is the ruthless way of doing it. It just sucks we are waiting till 48 hours until the end of the window to really start putting big moves into motion.

but sometimes its not just us. the other teams might be unwilling to move for them too early in the window because they are exploring other options as well. once they know " ok so this is the best we've got, lets take it" , then we can sell them.

our mentality in purchase is practically the same, search out for better options when we have time, and we when we starting running out of it we make our purchase. this sort of mentality benefits the seller most of the time and usually used by clubs who are trying to purchase players that are out of their league, more like a hit and hope attempt.

I dont mind levy selling these players so late into the window, he's actually really good at recouping value, but what i dont like is how we have the same purchasing pattern as small clubs as well. we should wrap up first choice signings early, move on. levy reminds me of those tourist who keeps asking for a better deal even after the price have been agreed, which to be honest for any vendor, would find him annoying as fuck.

That would be gross. I'd not be happy with that at all.

And so have we, we've managed to retain our best players and have added Jansen and Victor to the squad. With the exception of City and United no one has massively strengthened. Arsenal and Liverpool have glaring weaknesses and the likes of Everton, West Ham have barely done anything of note in the market.

We will never be a situation where we come out of a window where the squad is complete and where there is no weakness. No club does that, what we have now is an excellent first 11 with some very good back up options and some talented youngsters coming through. It's isn't perfect but it is better than most and better than we have had in quite some time.

Agree to a point but we are lacking numbers and extra quality when we we are battling on 4 fronts with tougher opposition in CL. Some of those that have left \leaving could have played n cup games
