I'd ignore all rumours about how much we did or did not receive, Real will never give a true figure and we're even less likely to.

Southampton fans seem gutted to lose him but they have a different level of expectation to us, we expect CL qualification and rightly so, just hope he can deliver that
Rightly so? Really? This is our problem. We can only hope for CL now, certainly not expect. As it stands, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, City are better than us, and it's hard to see Utd having another poor season with a top class manager in charge. The only thing we should be expecting is beating Everton to 6th.

We've just got to focus on ourselves, get some nice football going with a team spirit and see where it takes us. This kind of pressure does us no good at all.

What was Levy thinking taking a world record fee for a player?

Clearly fleeced.
We were fleeced even with the record fee. With Bale, we could have secured CL, a higher place in the table, and more money from sponsors and shirt sales. That alone would have been worth well more than the 86mill we got for Bale.

That's not guaranteed though, especially with a player refusing to even train to push through the move, yet the world record fee was. This is an investment company in charge remember, its thesis and foundation is about potential of revenue.

The Telegraph article from Jason Burt says that Levy has demanded that Pochettino qualify for CL next season, clearly Levy thinks differently to many of the fans

We get this every season in the press - and it always turns out that never happened.

Was AVB sacked for finishing 5th? No.

Sherwood came out and said he'd been told 4th was the minimum requirement - then changed his tune a few weeks later and said he'd never been told he had to get 4th.

How would Burt even know this, was he sitting in the meeting?

Burt still got a small axe to grind over AVB maybe?
It should be the target though. Sherwood hung himself by falling out with everyone and finishing a never nearer 6th.
Andre's 5th was unlucky given the points total and Redknapp deserved some shit for going from title talk at Christmas to coasting & whoring for England then not making it.

That article wasn't written by Jason Burt, it was written by John Percy.

See a couple of people mentioning if there is a clause inserted that prevents us approaching Saints players.

Can't see this, at the end of the day they are a selling club and we are one of the few clubs that will pay big money for players!

Atlanta Yid on COYS:
My man is on the way to London going to sign the deal

Then this
My man is the man with the info

His on a flight to London tonight to sign a deal

Somebody mentioned that AY's man is from the club signing paperwork. Apologies if this shouldn't go here.

we won't finish top four next season. arsenal, liverpool & united will all be better than us, not to mention chelsea & city

that's not overblown pessimism either - unless we're really, really good, we're not going to overcome at least 2/5 of them
Liverpool have the CL to deal with and will have to significantly invest in their squad to cope. Also, Suarez might leave, which would be a huge blow to them. They could also be a one season wonder for all we know. It's also hard to tell how Utd will adapt to LVG's personality. They also need to sign a few players and they might take time to gel.

Seems a bit ridiculous flying from Southampton.

Yea, I had to edit it. Apparently his man is Joe Lewis. Meaning Lewis is flying in to sign off. Apologies.

Edit: He noted his man was the lawyer that signs deals.

But wouldn't that be a formality with a managerial appointment, given there will be new backroom staff

Just onion but he normaly does not fly in for deals. So there is a reason for it. Maybe not just staff deals need to be signed? Or maybe a big outlay. Just onion.
