The noises from the club are soooo different than a few years ago, we seem to really mean business this year, and if as it seems, Bale has had a change of heart and now wants out, then i really think we will get the best possible replacements and move forward. The only shame being, that i think Bale would have been immense in this team.

Just a thought, I was not on SC yesteryear (only been active in forum for less than 2 months). Were the noises of ITK generally - yes deal done here and there, or a lack thereof?

said this in the Bale thread but i am wondering if Barnett's comments today are a sign that they are worried Bale might not get his move for whatever reason and therefore are preserving his image

Possibly, I couldn't see them doing it if it's a done deal with Madrid that every media outlet from here to Timbuktu has been saying.

Very likely. It would be wise to hedge their bets. It's what we're doing after all.

I doubt we'll ever know one way or the other whether today's no show was sanctioned or not but either way it benefits nobody right now to go public with the details.

Smile and wave boys, smile and wave.

Spurs, you disagree, is that because the window in spain shuts on monday then or what? I've seen people say it closes on friday for them.

still a week of this shit to go...I always hoped Bale would be our Giggsy or Gerrard (in terms of loyalty).

Lets get the replacements in and then make the RM deal as I suspect is the plan. I'd love him to stay and be part of this team thats been built but I think we're all pretty resigned to the fact that he is almost certainly off.

I don't know much about this Lamela but the amount of masturbation that surrounds him on here suggests he's pretty good.

Can't wait til this is all over and we know for certain what our squad looks like.

Be interesting to see if we ever spend the £30 million we had allocated for Willian, I somehow doubt it
We'll save almost £20m by spending just over £10m on Eriksen instead and I'm not exactly devastated about that on reflection (although I'd have luuuurved Willian to sign).

Edit: Maybe we throw the remainder at Leandro for a cheeky last try?

We had that player who was our "Giggsy/Gerrard" our loyal servant who was as good as them in his respective position. That mans name was Sir Ledley Of King.

God I miss him.

During this transfer window, if nothing else, I really feel like I've learned lots about myself.

I've learned that I'm a sad wanker with no life outside the ITK thread. Oh well ...............

Just woke from a nap at my desk and I find that Lamela isn't even in England, the deal isn't agreed, Hulk isn't for sale and Bale's wearing his nan's leopard print pants. This window has turned the world to cock.

I know this is unlikely, but I have to say -

Keeping Bale >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Lamela or Willian

Come on Gareth, you know who you were born to play for.

In - Chiriches, Coentrao, Lamela, Eriksen, Damaio. (£85m ish)
Out - Bale, Ekotto, Ade. (£100m ish)
Job done.

Little pot of leftover cash for Franco to go academy/development shopping during the winter months.

This is not ITK from me, just opinion based on ITK I have read recently on here, but I do actually think it is feasible and very likely.
Lamela first up, then Bale and Benny out, Coentrao and Chiriches to come in. Eriksen next, finishing with Ade out and Damaio last in.
