They did improve but I don't see how you can say that with complete certainty when they finished well off the pace in terms of position.

They barely lost a game after Xmas and were playing brilliant football.............only a nutcase would have sacked Rodgers after that.
Levy is tough but he isn't crazy.

If we put Poch in charge it will mean another few seasons of underachievement before we become a laughing stock again when we sack him or maybe even get rid of him this season because the morons who run our club have not got a fucking clue when it comes to football.

This was to be a massive decision for our club and with the perfect manager stating that he would love the job and they still get it wrong.

GUTTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree, there was progression, particularly after Sturridge came into the side. Still wouldn't be entirely confident though.

I also agree regarding AVB as well. Getting the right person in might see us show more patience but I still think we're quite an impatient lot in all truth. But if the football is good and we can see progression in terms of it coming together than maybe we'll get there in the end with the next manager.

If AVB's team had finished 6th this season but managed to play progressive football with a bit of style......he would still be here.

As long as Baldini is on board with whoever we've signed, ideally he'd have picked him, then fine. If not, we'll see the usual bollocks of players the manager has little say or input in, save one or two signing, being forced upon him.

We need a single direction at the club. Way too many voices and people pulling in their own direction off the pitch for a while now.

No announcements on manager this week.
You can still debate the 2 names.
However 1 is much much more concrete and contract talks further along than the other!

Barely lost a game? Surely they would of finished a lot higher than what they did if that were the case.

And I don't think anyone was tipping them to do what they did this season. So whilst they were improved at that point, its pretty easy to be wise after the event ie now.

So you are implying that Mick McCarthy has fallen out of the running?

Presume JJ means we are down to FBD and Poch, with Poch leading the race - presume this also rules out Benitez, who for all his experience and guile , I reckon his style of footy ruled him out with Chrome dome

Atlanta Yid on Coys:

"I just had lunch with my friend who shared the little bit of information that he has.
He told me that the reason Joe Lewis really likes Pouch is because they have mutual friends.
Joe has an estate in Argentina and his friends down their speak very highly of Pouch as a man and as a coach.
Weather or not Joe Lewis is a football man or not he is a good businessman he wants the best for the club long term that's why he wants a young energetic coach over the fat spanish waiter.
My friend told me that FDB pissed a few people off when he can out and said that he wanted the job before the season was over.
He is not out of the running but I think if I was putting my own cash on the table with the bookies that I would be leaning towards the fat Spanish waiter"

Have a look in the lets laugh at liverpool thread. We might not have thought they'd almost win the title but definitely most people had them down as challenging for cl.
