i don't even get this "those clubs owed us money"

yeah the original money we agreed with them in the first place! just because pompey owed us 5m for kaboul doesn't mean we got him for free, they still owed us 5m from the price we agreed with them! yet they are trying to find every excuse to bring down levy/the club.

Think it all comes back to money spent for what Gards alluding to. I get what you're saying though and a lot of people right now are overreacting to everything happening around the club. Windy said it well in that the negativity surrounding the club has now seeped into the stands and as a result there is this huge shitty atmosphere that is present not only in the media but on match days.

I don't think we need money spent. We just need to show some resolve this window and not sell players outright. Loan them out and let the "real manager" in the Summer make the calls on who can stay and who can go. I don't think that's asking much.
But there are clear improvements that need to be made. We need another center half. We need another striker.

Wouldn't go as far as trying to bring down Levy/the club, but yeah whenever anyone makes a comment like that it does show that they don't understand basic book-keeping.

I would be amazed if Baldini did anything other than fight Lamela's corner seeing as his reputation is very much wrapped up in it.

Yeah, that's pretty much a given. I'm worried by the apparent power struggle between Baldini and Tim though, maybe Lamela is being used as a pawn there?

Nah, I'm reading too much into this. Really want to see him get an extended run in the team though.

We will always need 2 players. We could spend a £bn and we'd still be saying we need to upgrade in certain positions.

This rampant negativity around the potential sale of anyone is perplexing me.
I know Capoue is a good player; but maybe his attitude is shit.
I think Holtby is quite a good player; and maybe his attitude is shit.

I pick my first team in any formation, and these guys do not get to start.

I'm prepared to wait until things actually turn to shit before I get upset about things.
Now if we start moving Lamela, or sell Paulinho in the summer, it's different.
Or if we can't buy a win by mid-March & are playing for nothing, it's different.

Otherwise, i'm prepared to accept that Sherwood isn't the devil in disguise, and maybe, just maybe, and this is an opinion that I believe hasn't been ventured on this forum before: he might have the best interests of the club in mind?

Woah! Cue stunned silence.

We've a heck of a good squad of young talented players & could achieve a lot given time. Players will come and go along the way; that's football.

I'm not sure you are. I've thought the same from the get go. We know Sherwood was bad mouthing Baldini from the minute he arrived (according to our most reliable ITK) , I would assume, he saw him very much as a rival within the club and now if the hierarchy structure is to be believed (i.e. people saying Sherwood as Technical Director was above the coach (AVB) previously) Baldini must now be over him effectively as they are now coach and DOF. Can't sit easy having someone you've described as clueless above you buying your players.

If i supported any other club i would be having a right old knees up at whats going on with Tottenham, even if we dont sell Holtby, Capoue, Chadli etc the fact alone the media is full of quotes from agents saying how unhappy players are and rumours of Tim not rating half of the new players we brought in is a very bad look for Spurs. If we actually do sell Capoue then that is a whole other level of ridiculousness that i didn't even think was possible from a team with our recent history.

Honestly, if this was happening to Chelsea at the moment we would have a "lets all laugh at Chelsea" thread 1000 pages long by now from this season alone.

Sherwood always comes across as a slightly LOTR-style snake in the grass/car salesman. Not sure what the fook is going on at our club but to sell players we brought in recent windows, that the previous gaffer apparently had no say about, would be utterly nuts.

In the interviews I've seen he's always come across well. Couldn't comment on ITK about him as that may be sour grapes/personal opinion/bs/or true and I have no idea which one. So I will take him at face value.

Good post, can't argue with any of it and echoes a lot of my thoughts.

However: regardless of who's sold, any reduction in squad depth is detrimental to our team. We constantly do it in January. I could care less if it saves us £1m by the end of the season. It'll have no bearing on the team.

I think back to last year, we loaned Townsend and Lennon got injured. We had back to back games where we clearly struggled with no pace and lost both (Liverpool/Fulham I think). We missed out on £25m plus in CL revenue by a couple of points.

Season before, anyone else think doing a bit better business than Saha and Nelsen would have got us over the line?

We could be looking at shipping out depth in ST, DM,CM and AM/LM, and not even addressing LB.

This isn't a TS issue, it's a board issue, and it's ridiculous...

Agree, its insane the amount of baseless hate he gets. Far too many people on here take ITK as cast iron fact.

Hmm, maybe, but he was supposedly a key part of our transfer team and yet hates all our players. Apparently. This situation is completely bizarre and smacks of power plays, just as I'd kind of got confident about where we were heading after 20 odd years of support. ..

He was part of our youth development and in on transfer dealings with youth players including loans. All the interviews (that I've seen) with Pleat, Redknapp and AVB no-one mentioned Tim having any part in decisions on first team players. I don't know if I've missed one or Harry mentions it in his book?
Admitedley Levy may have asked Tim's view on certain players but I don't think it was part of his job description.

Yes, the useless prick who got us a record points total last season.

Do you actually believe this bile that seems to spew from your keyboard?

"Record Points"...........didn't win us any prizes did it? so you point is exactly what?

The only "bile" i actually witnessed was a thrashing at Man Citeh and another at home to the Bin Dippers and West Ham. Perhaps your love in with AVB has over coloured those rose tinted glasses you are wearing.
