Glad to see the club addressing CB. Does seem odd that for some reason we haven't addressed this before though. The lack of decent CB pairings /trios has been the cause of our midfield being so deep for years now.

I agree and you also have to factor in that it had a lot to do with who previous managers wanted v who was available/gettable. Balance that with faffing about the whole window, players using us to get renewals at their parent club or a deal elsewhere, players being called “a club signing” (no shit the club signs them all you joker) so not getting mins.. and scouting and player identification had been way off par.
Yep, this is exactly how i saw the situation. Sure we (Levy) could have done more, but how i read things was that Conte very much wanted player X and only player X, we tried to get him that player but couldn't ( for pretty obvious reasons i.e Skriniar to PSG been 'done' for ages, Bastoni never wanted to leave) so we then offered Y and Z which Conte refused and/or sulked and didn't play (see Djed Spence). Whereas Ange says get me anyone of player A,B,C,D,E,F,G,H...... and i'll work with them and make them into the player i want. Hey presto, we make signing players seem relatively simple again !

Agree with this but it seemed like we tried for a lot more than two CBS. Can also think of Gvardiol, Hinchcapie and sure there were others. We all know Spence wasn't ready.
I think it probably demonstrates that we aren't dining at the top table of the Gvardiol's etc and shouldn't appoint managers that want/need those players.
Hopefully we have the right fit now in Ange and he will be given time to make this work. Enjoying the signings we're making though should be exiting if nothing else. A couple of very good CBs and we should look pretty good.

If we can genuinely get a CB that improves the team in the next week, that puts us in a great place. It means that the rest of window is 'cherry on the top' rather than 'shit, there are some serious issues that need addressing'.
(these are two genuine categories, by the way)
Whoever is behind this, whether Munn, or Ange or (I'm guessing it's not) a new Levy, they need a pat on the head (done in a patronising way, for the sake of amusement)

I think we need more than just one more incoming (two if you include Solomon) personally.
At least two defenders, potentially another winger, as a minimum.

Per D1 it was looking at additional 5 signings on top of Vicario and Maddison which broke down as; 2 CB's, 2 Midfielders and a Winger/Forward.
One can assume Solomon has now taken that winger/forward slot and I do think an additional midfielder is fanciful right now unless there's a major cull but the 2 CB's are surely non-negotiable and must be the priority right now.

I am not against Lenglet coming back as a squad player as long as a first team starter is identified and brought in.
I think that Dier, Davies, Tanganga and Sanchez need moving on as they don't really fit the squad player option in my opinion.

Agree. Pleased to hear H88 ITK that we aren't hanging around and will get a CB(s) in ASAP. Providing Tanganga and Sanchez leave I don't have a problem with having Lenglet as backup squad player. I would still want 2 new CBs though as even if we keep Dier he should NOT be starting league games next season
