Keep the ITK coming, very exciting.

Although, I am open to moving quickly and not getting bogged down on Option 1. After Raya to Vicario, it does feel like we should take our Top CB option. Tapsoba is a top talent and seems to be a better partner for Romero.

I'm not convinced about that, as that was only one position, we have two to fill (ideally) and from what every ITK/Twitter Voice says, we want both. VDV the easier deal so getting done quicker, Topsy is a harder deal so taking longer.

We only wanted 1 Goalkeeper. Sounds like we're going for 2 CBs so I'm still hopeful on Tapsoba.
Tosin will be the plan B to Tapsoba imo

Tapsoba can still be top target even if we get Van De Ven. If we sell Sanchez then we definitely need 2 new CBs in and Tapsoba and VDV will be perfect versatile additions.

VDV can be a solid pacey LB as well as a LCB and Tapsoba can play both left and right center back equally which is perfect.

I love the thought of VDV left back with Tapsoba and Romero in the middle and Porro having more freedom on the right because VDV can slot into the defence if Porro gets caught upfield.

I know it's a broken drum in here with so many people saying it but defence is somewhere we cannot neglect and I feel we have to get BOTH Tapsoba and VDV in through the door.

of course we have to get both, but it is unlikely that we will pay what Leverkusen wants for Tapsoba

So with vicario, Maddison and now looks like VDV we will get our no.1 choice in 1 and our possible no.2 pick on 2. That's not the worst position to be in. Hopefully the gamble of moving on from main targets very quickly works out

I really hope we do pay it. Defence is just somewhere we cannot afford to neglect any further with shipping 60+ goals last season.

Hopefully the Solomon deal and saving a bit of money on the Vicario/ Maddison deal + additional sales could help us get both.

any position other than Tapsoba+VDV which is supposed to be our top targets is not good enough

Why isn't it, we need at LEAST a LCB, VDV (the coveted young player with a high ceiling, and a choice Ange is happy with) fills that spot, then as a backup you have potentially Lenglet/Davies, which for a season with no European football is more than good enough.

Agree that Tapsoba seems a better partner and i think most people would vote for him as the no.1 CB target now (although i hadn't heard of either player 2 weeks ago !).

Would stress though that a real problem we've had recently is aiming for one target , struggling to get a fee sorted/convince player to join for weeks on end, then scrambling around for a poor alternative or just running out of time to get an alternative. At least if this first deal gets done , we get a good young player for the future locked in, and we can then see where the Tapsoba deal goes and, possibly, see what type of 'surprise' older experienced CB option may crop up later in the window - all the noise around Laporte seems to have died a death but he's not been sold and who knows, you'd be pretty happy to have VdV as an understudy learning from Laporte for a couple of seasons IF the Tapsoba move didn't come off.

I think it's the right move to lock down the player you can definitely get, then see where we go with others.

*Note. I'd be as pissed off as everyone else if the Left sided starter and understudy were VdV and Lenglet - i don't mind having Lenglet back as a back up to Tapsoba but not a young kid who'll almost certainly need time and patience to bed into the PL and therefor Lenglet plays a more prominent role.

It’s really not, they drop off is huge not only in terms of quality but also being comfortable in a high line.

VDV is also a huge risk imo as he is so young for a CB.

But Agne is known for wanting/liking to work with young players, and its been said by ITK that he feels he can coach up our nr 2 choice to be as good as Tops. So why not give him a chance? VDV is a huge upgrade on what we have, but yet we're still not happy. As I said, we have no european football this season, that equates to more time on the training pitch and more time to coach.

Although I agree with the club moving on to VDV if we are unable to yet agree a deal with Tapsoba. I know we can look again at Tapsoba if we sell more players. My worry is other clubs going for him in the mean time. At present we may have free run at him but in a few weeks who knows?
I agree with the approach though and feel having as many of our new players through the door as soon as possible to have as much of the pre season with the boss and team mates is important.

Romano has said we're still talking to them, its not like its a dead deal (only POK is saying that which runs against what everyone else is currently hearing).

I am willing to give it time to develop? And won’t judge the window until it shuts.

However getting both would have been a great statement and overhaul of the defence. Tapsoba can play both sides so if an injury happened we would be well covered. Now if one gets injured we are back to Dier and/or what seems to be Tosin or Lenglet.

We have saved money on all three deals we have done so far, if we could get Tapsoba for a reasonable fee then we should be all over it. However it certainly seems like one or the other.

Tbf last year people were saying it should be Tapsoba over Hincapie when we were linked and VDV has been linked to Liverpool a lot.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love both, but I don't think not getting Tapys (not Tops as I seem to keep calling him), is the end of the world.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, from the bits i've read and seen (stats and clips) i like both and they both look like they would improve us massively, their appeal is absolutely obvious. However, there are always players coming through every year that become really good players, some young, some others flourishing as they age, so i couldn't possible have these two as the 'must have' signings, but yes they definitely fall in the 'would very much like' bracket.
