Thanks to everyone who donated yesterday. We had a decent response and it's covered the bills for a couple more months. Ideally, by the end of the window we'd like to be covered up until Christmas but it's an excellent start. Thanks!
Let's see what Father Christmas brings. If you've been good.

The amount they earn they should have done that already. How many generations of their families do they think need to do fuck all their entire lives?
They earn unbelievable wealth but then you see this ridiculous clobber they wear, the houses, the women, the cars and that money only last for maybe 10 to 15 years and as a boring middle aged man I always think, yeah they're going to run out of money pretty quickly after they retire.

I'm not defending them by the way but just putting it out there that I bet many of them spend to what they earn and with some of them I bet they're expected to upkeep dozens of family members financially.

I think the whole world is odd in that rich people take money from all sorts of awful sources and then want to talk about mortality issues. Companies will promote pride whilst being at least part owned by states that have banned homosexuality so it's no surprise to see football not see any issue with taking this money.

I think it's weirder when players who already have millions stashed away uproot their families and kids to go live in the desert, just so they can earn even more money that they don't need.
Vardy has reported turned down an offer from Saudi Arabia to avoid uprooting his family.

Think of all those extra cars that he won't be able to buy that he would never have had time to drive anyway. Such a huge sacrifice for his kids. :ROFLMAO:

On topic...donated!

He may need the cash, just to fund his wife's legal bills 🤣

Literally the first post in this thread :p
Rob, I'm all for you guys getting donations and people getting to show their appreciation through donations (you deserve it, they deserve it), but how can it be that you need to lean on them to keep the ship floating?

With the number of visitors on this site, you should be able to earn quite a lot of money! I feel like you guys are missing some form of opportunity here?

The last time I did this my family had to starve, now I’ll have to unload my eldest but he’s a little teenage prick anyway so it’ll be a double win in my books.

£20 pounds in the pot. It would be more but the exchange rate is killing us down here at the moment.

For those of you who don’t work in IT/Web, this kind of server size and user frequency costs an insane amount of money to run per month. You can read the break down in the original post.

It's a two-fold problem to some extent:

1) Advertising revenue has dropped off a cliff and as we keep seeing, Google keep trying to push the really annoying (full screen, pop-up, etc) ads. If we allowed them, it could well pay for itself but it really ruins the site.
2) We need a server that can handle the insane traffic for about 2 weeks of the year. We have to pay for it for the whole year though. It'd be a fraction of the cost to support the server for a normal boring week in November or March. We've looked at options for "on demand" type pricing before and these just never worked (or they got really ridiculous really fast). So we're paying a premium to make sure we don't go down at the end of January/August.

At the minute I'm reasonably happy. We do have to pass the begging bowl around a few times a year but that generally works well and means we can avoid going down the Football London route with all their adverts.

Could you not possibly have a section on the website for ‘Forum Sponsors & Advertisers’ to help generate some additional income?

Thanks, that makes sense!

Done that before, it raised 50p or so. We just don't have enough diverse traffic to really generate anything from that. Even Amazon (where I assume most people shop) makes us maybe £5 a month at best.
