the strongest tool in negotiation is silence
I understand what you are saying buuuuut, Levy has previous. He actually gave an interview to SSN and told them straight. Modric is going nowhere. This time around the speculation is much worse or more intense. Obviously he can't give an interview from his home in the USA, but some sort of statement I think is now absolutely required. And the longer it goes without it, the worse it's looking. Onions obviously.

I know it's not ITK, but on talkshite about 10 mins ago they had Ramón Calderón on talking about the Bale saga. He said he expects to see Bale at R Madrid next season, basically saying they get who they want. He was asked if the players are told to big up targets (Ramos,Cassilias etc..) basically asking if they are told to tap up in not so many words, he didn't confirm this but near enough. He also confirmed a bid has been put in, one last week that Levy was furious at, but seemed to say they are negotiating (ish)
He also said if the player wishes to leave they should be allowed to, because - get this - slavery was abolished years ago and you can't keep players against their will! SLAVERY! I'd be a slave for £80 grand a week, the poor souls. Thy must wonder where their next hot meal is coming from.

Anyway not ITK. But directly from the former presidents mouth, and he surely would be in the know.

Wasn't there itk mention that today's team vs Mk Dons could represent some transfer activity?

Squad: Archer, Miles, Fredericks, Livermore, Stewart, Ward, Bentaleb, Falque, Carroll, Townsend, Coulthirst, Ceballos, Lancaster, Lameiras, Gallifuoco, McEvoy.

http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/mk-dons-vs-spurs-xi-310713/

Think it was regarding the Monaco squad. Still interesting to see Townsend in this squad considering he starred in the Prem on loan at QPR. Could just be some game time after brief sub appearances in Hong Kong.

Ok - time to take a step back.
Bale has not left yet. There is still a chance that Bale could stay. I have no doubt that AVB or Levy could convince Bale to give the club one final year. Esp if we can conclude the signing of Soldado and show more intent in the window.
I'm sure AVB/ Levy will let Bale know the transfer targets and hopefully convince bale to stay, with a guaranteed buyout price for next summer.
Bale will not be sold on the cheap, despite him supposedly wanting to join Real this summer, and if we do not get the deal we want then Bale will be going nowhere.
From all accounts Bale is sensible enough to understand this and all of this can work in our favour.

If Real do meet the price we want, then we can be certain that the club is making an extremely good deal for us. This will lead to additional funds that allow us to strengthen.

Its been a depressing day with all of the press/ itk reports, but nothing has really changed on the Bale front.

Oh, and Soldado should behaving a medical tomorrow reportedly.

I agree but its difficult to gauge the precise position of the Club on this. Whilst one could argue its very unsettling, we are also getting a hell of a lot of free coverage/publicity.

I guess the reason why we havn't broken our silence is we don't know/or havn't known what we are going to do. If rinsing Madrid is a likely outcome, I guess we keep quiet for now.

I guess the contract stuff with Bale complicates issues somewhat else.

A lot more at stake than the Modric situation IMO. I'm not surprised we are holding our cards very close to our chest here. Like what we do with the Bale money etc...

Football is a funny old game

Its at times like this when I wonder why I bother, Sitting here watching events unfold. People making decisions, selling and buying players, sacking and appointing managers, building or moving stadium.

The majority of Spurs fans do not want Bale to be sold, the club have not engaged us at any point in this drama. Not even have the courtesy to give us an inkling of what the club are thinking or what the policy is or what the the hell is going on. We have to rely on speculation, rumour and conjecture. I as many others have supported clubs with passion, emotion and finance yet when the big decisions are made we are but a backdrop to everything. I love my team, but I have never felt so disconnected.

They take us for granted because a supporter just doesn't change his club, there are numerous means for clubs to engage with their supporters if they so wish. However it seems they just don't want to know.

zeki fryers didn't look a top player for u21's last season, would be surprised if he played more than a couple of domestic cup games this season for first team

I was only asking if the OP who quoted "Who's Zak" meant Ezekiel Fryers. I know fuck all about the eejit.

Some div even gave me a disagree - What's to disagree about asking a question ?

Cockamamie I reckon.

Exactly, that's why the lack of a statement is worrying :(
