Sorry guys i know its completely irrelevant to ITK but....

I love Hugo Lloris. Still cant believe his our keeper :) an absolute huge player for us.

Back on track on ITK discussions lol

I think JJ talking about Remy last night certainly feels to me that we are interested. But maybe as a last resort type of signing. Which i wouldn't mind at all.

My QPR supporting mate reckons that the rumours their end is Townsend + cash for Remy... not sure if I like the sound of that deal

Wouldn't surprise me if we sell them Parker and loan them back Townsend for the season. Not saying I would be agreeable to the latter necessarily but it wouldn't surprise me.

I think one thing's for sure is that Harry will be actively trying to do business with us, be it permanent deals or loans.

Just a thought on announcing players - not ITK. Since we are no longer a PLC I don't think we have to announce signings or major investments. If that's right (and I THINK it is) then we might not put them up on the OS until we have enough to make a big splash for which ever of our sponsors that we want to. But WTF do I know! :cautious:

We dont have to announce anything we dont want to, we can hold out and wait for any time, it's upto the clubs discretion, it doesnt mean a player has or hasnt signed

damiao was 'bought' by internacional. we only get first option on players who start their career there

We don't know the exact arrangements of the club partnership as they have never been made public, but last summer it was reported that we wouldn't get first option on Oscar he has didn't come through the academy, but we do on Damaio as he did.

I'm not saying you're wrong, but I've never ready anything about the player having to "start their career there".

The announcements can come at any time but i they are changing shirt sponsors and unveiling the new shirts, it makes more commercial sense to show the new players in the new kits and encourage people to buy them with the new names and numbers.

If the deals are done in the background, there's no real rush - players have to pack and move countries it seems - and with a set date for the kit launch perhaps it is in their mind to delay the unveilings until then as it's only a few days.

I don't think Remy will be coming to us, it simply makes no sense to hire Baldini and then go after a tired ass, Thierry Henry wannabe striker, that we were once interested in during the Redknapp era. He's 26 and hasn't ripped up any trees, could be a late developer but I doubt it. That would be a panic button signing, I'd rather keep Defoe.

I do wonder if there may be some kind of tie in to the talk QPR want Parker.

On the topic of incoming transfers and lack of announcements, is it too far fetched to assume the club is holding off announcing them until some outgoings are concluded. If clubs know we are overstocked, they'll see that as an opportunity to lowball us on our players, under the belief we have to trim down our squad/wage bill so will be more desperate???

i'm sure that's what first option on academy players implies as meaning anyway. i'm not 100% sure how it works either but its definately academy players only and i associate real academy players as players who start their career at a particular club and progress through to the first team rather than being bought into the academy like damiao

Or players that were in the academy when we made the deal?

Yeah could happen although you would have thought that Townsend himself would prefer to go to a PL club - would seem a step backwards after the success he had in the second part of the year (even from the clubs point of view on his progression).

Plenty of clubs outside the top 8 must be sniffing around him.

You don't get first option, it's more the opportunity to match. If the player didn't want to come to you it's fairly irrelevant.

Exactly, it's a bit like me and my mates shouting dibs on all the lovely ladies at the club, forgetting the fact that we are ugly ****s who wont stand a chance....

Roma officials spent Wednesday morning in London, attempting to negotiate a deal with either Manchester City or Tottenham Hotspur, to sell striker Pablo Osvaldo, according to the Gazzetta dello Sport.
