Stambouli and Schneiderlin for Holtby and Sandro would be a good improvement but it all hinges on whether one more bid will sway Saints.

JJ said weeks ago there was more to it than meets the eye in terms of what the fans know.

I knew as soon as he said it this was inevitable.

I've heard from a couple of people involved with the club that he became unpopular with the club's hierarchy and some of the dressing room when he talked about Tim Sherwood to the press prior to Sherwood's sacking. Mods PM'd re: my sources.

Maybe Sandro refused to go to a party hosted by uncle Joe's daughter?

Rebrab only assuring us of a new offer\bid to match info from others , but as others have said on here, I can't see Southampton caving this late.

One can only assume we haven't announced Stambouli yet is that Schneiderlin is still very much the first choice here - otherwise I don't see the hold up.

Think it'll all end in vain though.

See this is what I find strange, Poch used Schneiderlin with Wanyama a lot of the time.

Schneiderlin and Sandro looks immense as a partnership to me...

Can't see either of them being here when the window slams though.

I've always though that the Stambouli stuff was an MS Smokescreen or to make Southampton think we'd lost interest.

We still have Stambouli, Paulinho, Dembele, Bentaleb, Capoue for 2 central midfield spots. Unless one of them goes I don't see us trying again for Schneiderlin. Especially as Poch has already apparently said he wants to trim down the squad.

With Sandro and Holtby on their way, Lennon possibly and Townsend also I can sort of see both Stambouli and Schneiderlin coming in. No further news on Welbeck?

Loan Stambouli straight back out to Southampton? :D

Paulinho should play behind the striker IMO- he could almost be the Holtby replacement...
