Depending on whether Brad has another season him or Archer is ready, look at back-up keepers.

Buy back Caulker.

If Tim is not prepared to work with BA-E, and Fryers is not ready, look at back-up left backs, but I am happy to give Rose another season to cement his place.

Maybe sign a young striker who does not expect to go straight in the team, but I am not that fussed. Kane and Lamela are going to be quality.

No one else needed, but give returnees Holtby, Livermore, Falque, Carroll and Mason the chance to fight for a squad place in pre-season - if they do not convince move on or, in the case of Carroll, loan. Veljkovic, Obika, Pritchard, Frederick, Ceballos and Coulthirst also potentially worth looking at for a fringe squad place.

Siggurdsson is the only squad player I would currently be interested in listening to offers for, but depending on who else comes through the ranks we could maybe let a few others go.

I want us to move early, no reason why we cant with Baldini behind the scenes.

Get our business done early, shut up shop turning down any interest in our players and get working on pre-season as soon as possible.

It's going to be tougher this summer because of the World Cup, maybe we can get one or two players from countries not going and I imagine we might be tragetting one or two younger players not making their respective selection cut, but the players at the WC won't want the distraction of moving and their clubs (those that might sell) will all be waiting to see if they shine and can increase the asking price. Pre season will also be disrupted because of players at the WC coming back later

"Feeling is they go for option A and then try and get Prandelli or Cappello in the summer, UNLESS and it is a big unless Franco can twist some arms and get one of our younger targets."

Ali Z, the day of AVB's sacking.

I'm not going to say anything more.

So in theory i suppose the "provisional" deal would be Van Gaal. Guessing De Boer and Capello would be the other two names?

If we re-signed Caulker after somehow wrangling £10m for him, I'd cry my eyes out.

A little harsh, if we gave them back their £10 million for him then yes I would feel the same, but for £4-6 million…. He could be a useful option for a while and then we could earn more money by selling him again.

If we're going to buy a defender we need one to take kabouls place if his injuries persist. Caulker i don't think is good enough yet.

I disagree. I think he's average, and overrated by some on here because he came through our system. He isn't as good as any of the current defenders we have, and we seem to have a few decent prospects coming through - not worth wasting the money on him. Imo, of course. Although, if your scenario came to fruition, I wouldn't mind somehow making even more money on him.

Forgive me if this has already been mentioned but Sherwood has stated, I'm sure, that we are a bit light on home grown players to fulfill squad places. That suggests to me that the links with Lascelles at Forest and Cresswell at Ipswich for example have some credence. In other threads about our current development squad players it's been hinted that some of those who are now at ages where they would have to be a registered squad member may be moved on to create space for those in the U18s being promoted. With the advent of the new U23 league it's going to be an interesting summer to see who stays and who goes.

I think ITK said we were looking at Karl Darlow, would make sense to fill the GK no.2 position with a home grown player when Brad/Gomes leave.

I don't think Vincent Tan would let him go on the cheap. He's not Cornelius, he's been superb this season.

Friend of mine is a Everton supporter and thinks the kid could be a solid player. CB, pretty big kid who can apparently play a little on the wing. Very young though if i am not mistaken.

I have seen him play a few times and he looks a real prospect.

He is currently 19, can play centre back and is a very competent right back. He would be a very good signing for the near future (Dawson/ Kaboul replacement) and would cover Walker perfectly

I can't see Everton wanting to sell though, they only signed him last season and he is starting to break into the first team this season

Poor kid was turned over by Liverpool at Anfield a few weeks ago. They hit his side fast n hard with Coleman out, and it worked well.
