LB is a must, Rose again looked suspect and his decision making is poor. Townsend was a pile of shite and isn't a team player, he never tracked back tonight and tried some stupid things that Zidane would have thought twice about. Rose and Townsend are purely assets to be sold to the highest bidder, don't see them being the kind of players to take us further.

They do serve another purpose for the time being....

Until we have a bigger pool of quality home grown payers, we need to keep both Townsend and Rose.

I cant agree with this, the issue with Rose is that he was very good last year and was injury free. This year he has been back to the same old rose and hasn't looked good at all but hardly anyone in our defence has except Kaboul? has looked good.

As for Townsend last season he tracked back alot this season I think AVB gave him more freedom than he should of, look at him for England, he's totally different and was tracking back, hugging the touch line and put lots of crosses in with meaningful shots that actually looked like going in. That to me suggests that he has potential, I would personally get rid of lennon and siggy before townsend!

We definitely need a new a LB but it will tough with united looking for one as well!

He has played a bit for Everton this season, so would be surprising but I also see him coming if he stays as a CB as we have quiet a few decent rb options

I thought that but Rose has been very injury prone and vertonghen is arguably too good to play at lb. I think we need a lb cover whether that is a experienced head or a young un with lost of potential remains to be seen. However danny has struggled with his fitness since his career threatening knee injury

We need a CB and imo vertonghen should cover lb every now and again and a cb of similar quality would likely could possibly mean less importance to sign a LB. We would also have 3 great CB's if Kaboul gets fit as well hence his loss wouldn't be felt as much.

Sunderland fans might have thought Rose was decent but they are a lower level PL team, I didn't watch a huge amount of Sunderland games last season but I can't say Rose exactly shone when I did, to me he's poor defensively, constantly out of position, prone to giving away free kicks in dangerous areas unnecessarily and though he puts a lot of energy into getting forward his final cross or pass is normally simply hit and hope rather looking to find players. I think full backs generally these days aren't very good and Rose is no exception and as such we need better if we want to seriously challenge the top teams
on the back
As for Townsend he's hugely overhyped basically on the back of a couple of good games for engand, if he plays inverted on the right he simply cuts in and blasts shots from range, if he plays orthodox on the left his crossing generally is hit and hope and his tracking back is quite rare and generally ineffective. He can improve with age he has the pace and the engine but he has a lot to improve if he wants to be a regular starter

Could quite easily be describing Walker or Rose there!
