I actually rate Ryan Nelsen quite highly. And he's a good down-to-earth bloke, who has a big influence in Blackburn and helped inspire NZ to do better than most thought in World Cup.

And on the latter point, the deal would be very good commercially as takes us into Antipodoean market...

Seems since Man U poached the guy who Darren Eales replaced we havent really been able to seal any deals over 10m.

Not saying its Eales fault but seems like a coincidence.

From the BBC:
2214: Oh, and Harry Redknapp also said that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is handling striker Roman Pavlyuchenko's prospective move to with Lokomotiv Moscow, and he thinks that will go through too. I knew Spurs would be busy, they always are...

2212: More news from Tottenham. Lots of it. Spurs boss Harry Redknapp says he tried to sign Juventus winger Milos Krasic this week but he only wanted the Serbia international on loan and the Italian side were only interested in a permanent deal. Redknapp also says he could not let Steven Pienaar goes back to Everton because he has too many injuries and has revealed that Wolves want to sign Sebastien Bassong but he will need to complete a deal for an unnamed defender before he lets that one go through.

There is as much chance of me sprouting a fanny as there is Ryan Nelson signing for us tonight, or ever.

Utter and complete bollocks.

However, if it does happen I reserve the right to remove and/or forget I ever made such a brave statement.

Noted and awaiting pictures.

Seriously guys JJ'sinfo shouldn't be dismissed. Everyone talksabout POTL,but for me JJ and Ryan arethe two best ITK's.

the thing i like is all these players we are linked with are seen as "backups" yet in the summer we all want loads of shiny new signings. we have enough trouble getting rid of the shit we already own, let alone another load of bargain basement players.

if we were in fact prepared to pay £18m or so for remy then surely there are other players out there that are just as good? if remy was that good why didnt we get him a year ago?

im not filled with optimism over this saha deal and if it comes back to bite us then it will be another oppurtunity wasted due to scrimping.

i keep saying it, saha is NOT an adequate substitute for adebayor. he simply isnt. No "backup" or anything like that, we need a substitute that will play to a similar level to adebayor. If adebayor gets injured now are we still going to be happy? are we balls.

for the last 4 months we have all collectively winced every time adebayor goes down or pulls up, praying for the window to open so we can buy an adequate substitute. have we?...no, so for the remainder of the season it is another set of crossed fingers that he doesnt get injured.

Nelsen and Saha are poor signings. The only way you could be pleased with these is out of desperate relief that the club actually did something

:eek:mg:We all laughed at arsenals panicky buys in the summer but I'd take players like arteta and benayoun in this window.

I'd take Lennon and Bale over them.

We don't need first choice players.

We need squad players who won't detract money from being spent where it should be spent.

We could win the league if we signed a number 9 who could score and some wide cover.

Absolutely shameful the board have failed to take our best opportunity at the league for half a century.

Really so gutted. What a chance we've got for glory and they've waved it goodbye in favour of some low level brinkmanship. We may never get another chance at the title.

It would certainly confirm beyond doubt that JJ is a serious ITK player. I suppose you gotta think the positives re: hazard etc must also be listened to.
