Long time lurker, probably my first or third time posting. MAN AM I EXCITED!! For all those saying we lost our thee best players, no we didn't. We lost our best player in luka modric, but considering ledley king's knees were only going to hold up til january, or rafa's stamina, through the 65th minute, we in no way have lost our second and third best players. I'd rate bale, and walker above either of those two. As for those claiming dempsey is not a forward, wait a minute yes he is. Matter of fact, dempsey played his best last year when he was a poacher. I read an article a few months ago about how the majority of his goals or chances created came when he was playing striker, not wide or in the hole. For those protesting bedside, rafa > dempsey, that's cool because dempsey is not here to replace rafa, he's here to replace saha/pav & kranjcar. Sigurdsson is rafa's replacement and to be honest with you, everything I've read says he's much better a sharpshooter. so yes, he doesn't have rafa's skill yet, but already we have improved on set pieces with his kicking, and dempsey's threat. I honestly can't comment on dembele, I don't expect modric-like production, but I'd resigned myself to losing modric after the scum won the champion's league anyway

This. Absolutely outrageous. So many are trying to play it down but they shouldn't. It displays unbelievable incompetence. The club should have had an idea of these fine details long ago and if a deal couldn't be worked out then we should have known of that in good time too so that we could seek alternative targets.

It's not like we were looking to sign a third choice keeper here. This guy was supposed to be the fulcrum of the team; the manager's number 1 target and the guy that would make it all tick. Probably the most crucial signing of all and we cocked it up. FFS.

Still at work and just got Internet access. Not sure we had a great last day of the transfer window as lloris might take time to get used to the epl and I'm not sure how dempsey will fit into avb's 4-3-3 system but my friend who was keeping me updated is a Liverpool supporter and he is gutted and very jealous of who we have brought in, so that made me a bit more optimistic.

Until I heard about '4 minutes' and I can't believe such a canny negotiator like levy can slip up like that without an excuse he can use. If he has messed up on this he might have learnt a valuable lesson and will buy earlier in the window.

The Goat (via JJ I believe, as Ryan said JJ told him a few days ago Dempsey was a fall back plan) made mention of a Plan D, which Rob confirmed was always cryptic for Dembele/Dempsey.
