You dont think Freidel, Caulker, Gallas, Parker, Livermore, Lennon and Defoe is enough depth? Many of these players would slot straight into most PL sides. And for once we have 2 good impact subs

We've gone from top 4 to a mid table squad

Personally, I don't see how any of the players we have signed with the exception of Dembele actually help transform our squad from one that plays 4-4-2 to 4-3-3. That's the one problem I have. We have an army of quality central players but with the exception of Bale who can play wide up top? And even in a 4-4-2 how many wingers do we have?

We have signed quality players but do they actually fit?

off to the game tomorrow be interesting to hear the reaction to the window - really hoping we put on a performance and put some of the window grief behind us

Right, I;ve finished my Vodka, finished my wank via Babe Station, which cost me a fortune as I had a power nap with a semi on the go whilst still on the phone, but anyway I'm still feeling a little confused.

One half of me is incredibly excited over the signings of Dembele ,Lloris and Dempsey, particularly the former.

I'm just still trying to get my noggle around the fact that we've sold Modric and VDV, and havn't got in that elegant play making type who can set the tempo for us and use the ball intelligently when the game really warrants it.

Mixed emotions, but had we signed Moutihno on top of those lot above I would of been having a super wank, via Babe Station, and then telling them to get fucked.

Just to clarify, from what's been said it seems the problem with the Moutinho transfer wasn't his wages. That was probably agreed weeks ago. What the club couldn't get sorted is how much Porto should have been paid and how much this 3rd party owner should have been paid. 'Porto sold 37.5% of the player's economic rights to a third party, Mamers BV, for €4.125 million.' That will have been the issue. Not personal terms!

Long time reader, first time poster. Way too much doom and gloom around. I fear we've been spoilt over the last 3 years with consistent league form but I would much rather win a trophy than finish 4th. Let's be brutal we are never going to win the CL but the side we have is more than capable of winning a Cup. That's what you tell the kids about, not finishing in a UEFA Cup spot in old money. We will be fine

I think we have brought in some real top players. Im pleased. Just losing 3 of our best players at the same time.

People do realise that we will never see King, VDV or Modric again in a Spurs shirt

I think we could have just pushed the boat out a little to appease that loss.

Dembele is class, Dempsey is a top player. Vertonghen, signing of the summer for me. Lloris is one of the worlds best keepers. Siggurdsson has scope to become a very good player.
Well put mate. Couldn't agree more

No creative midfield back-up, no striker back-up in Defoe as he's really just not that good. So if a couple of injuries come in those vulnerable positions we are toast. And by toast I mean, no top 4.

As it stands I'm not expecting top 4 and won't let myself, not gonna do it to myself. Just gonna enjoy the season and hope to see some entertaining footy.

The most important recruit going forward will be an all new scouting network. We can't keep relying on these late deadline day signings to try and grab a steal. We need to scout for realistic targets. The trouble with AVBs targets (Willian, Moutinho, Hulk) is they're all out of our reach. We have to find these players before their value goes through the roof.

It's time to stop chasing these big money signings and discover young hidden talent.
spot on. nail on head. other such cliches ...

If we let Jenas & Bentley go on a free, we would have at least the 10k extra needed to secure Moutinho's wages and money left over.

Or complete bollx from Levy. I want a Porsche for a fiver but it ain't happening. Levy plays us
You really believe this? I could waste energy getting annoyed but I honestly think the cause is that the agent tried to screw us over, after all a fee was supposedly agreed and I'm certain AVB would have already convinced Moutinho to join. If it is Pini as believed, he works on the biggest transfers and takes a big chunk of fees, this could have been the wall we hit.
At the end of the day it could be anything, but to presume its Levy being stingy is harsh IMO
