"Moutinho deal failed due to 15% players rights stake owned by a third party. Fee and personal terms agreed."

Can't believe there are some 'fans' on here who are already writing off Dempsey.

I guarantee if Dempsey had scored the amount of goals he had scored in other top league in Europe then there wouldn't be the whinging that is going on currently at the moment.

For £6m we could do a lot worse... He will easily pay that money back and treble it with the goals he scores.

This reminds me of the window when Liverpool failed to replace Alonso and went downhill pretty quickly.

People need to look at the squad we are left with and come to terms with the fact that we'll be lucky to make the top 6. Supposed to be getting up early to travel to the game in a few hours and right now it just feels like a pointless trip to watch a bunch of people who have been sold out by their chairman.

What a load of fucking bullshit about only letting VDV go if we had Moutinho sorted. What a load of bullshit about only selling Modric once we had a replacement in place. Just a load of lies like we got when Berbatov was sold. Anyone who thinks we'll spend the cash in January clearly hasn't cottoned on to the plan.

I hear what your saying Spurgs, but look at it this way. Since selling Berba, we have gone on to finish in the top four twice, reached the quarter finals of the CL and cemented our position as a top four club. We may have sold our two most technically talented players, and great readers of the game, but the players we have bought in are different players, that will work in a different system. I personally see both Dempsey and Siggy working great behind Ade, and I think Dembele is a fantastic signing, given he was probably half a good season away from being signed by United or another big club. He may not have the vision of Modric but we are creating a different style of team that will play a different style of football, and you will never be able to replace players like Modric and VDV like for like.

So chin up pal, the future's bright, the futures lilywhite! ;)

Rough estimates on spending. Club £15+ in profit.

Ins
Verts - 9m
Siggy - 8m
Ade - 5m
Dembele - 15m
Lloris - £11
Dempsey - £6m
Spent = £44m

Outs
Kranjaer - £5m
Corluka - £3m
Pienaar - £5m
Bassong - £3m
Dos Santos - £1m
Modric - £33m
VDV - £10m
Brought in = £60m

Exactly - and much prefer the option of Dempsey than relying on defoe if we need a second striker

What's the point in having something in quotation marks if you don't provide a source? Where is this info coming from?

So the extended deadline was for Kanes loan, yet Akqa claimed the Mouthino papers got signed and then started praying for it to go through during this time? Someone is feeding him bullshit. Sorry mods...

simple is we r not stronger than last year
In a 90 minute game, we are.

Modric and VDV were both very sexy footballers, and for periods could be phenomenal. But matches are 90 minutes, and neither of them played that long on any day. Modric sometimes maybe, but not if he was in a fight. VDV never, he just couldn't last that long. When he tried, he ended up getting sent off because he had to throw himself in.

We will miss their individual flair. But the team we have at our disposal over 90 minutes now is a superior one.

IF AVB can get them playing together of course. I believe he can, but it's yet to be proven.
