If we've got the money then it really does make sense to go all out for Lamela now and also keep Bale for this season. I'm sure Lamela would be worth £40-50m by this time next year.

Depends if you think Bale is off nor not. If he goes as seems the most likely outcome we'd have to spend his entire transfer fee within the next couple of weeks to have actually spent proper money net.

How many of these super players will need game time to get in their respective WC squads?

I just thought that this may be an indication that Joe has found a sponsor for the new stadium, therefore he can spend!

Goat's ITK mentions contenders?

Contenders for what? Bankruptcy...

Still smells to me like a Bale sale cover up. Spend loads now with this "new found money" then last minute Bale sale with a "we had to balance the books" tagline.

Think this ITK is just about keeping price tags of players we want down before getting the Bale money.

not at all.. win big lose small scenario imho...a new sky tv deal increasing revenue by an extra £ 30mil per annum & the event of qualification for the ecl who's prize/tv money has just gone up means its a very good gamble.

no qualification for the ecl & bales future fee will more the cover the expenditure & then some?
& that's without the vicious rumour of uncle joe throwing his pound notes out of florida in our direction

A lot of the worry with regards to losing Bale was that we wouldn't invest the money properly back into the team.

I no longer think that's an issue. Lewis, Levy and co and putting up in a big way.

If Bale goes, so be it. In the board I trust. We may find ourselves a world class player down, but I 100% believe we will be far, far stronger as a team. We couldn't go on with Bale rescuing us every week.

It's an exciting time to be a yid. Regardless of what the Welshman does.

IMHO.

I love that Goat info!

JL is an old man now. If he truly is a Spurs fan, and we've had plenty of ITK in the past to confirm it, then he's not going to want to piss about for too much longer. He's obviously got faith in DL and AVB so why not push the button now and say "fuck the expense". Maybe he feels for a lot of reasons that next year is our best ever chance of winning the League. At the moment, we've still got Gareth Bale and the only way we're going to keep Gareth Bale is by showing ambition.

It's hard not to get excited about what might happen over the next three weeks, but I am going to start carrying around an emergency bottle of salt. Just in case. ;)

no need to carry the salt mate. If the goat stuff is true, there'll be enough salty porridge going round for all of us.

it's the want of a spurs fan to have the fates against us but fuck me, if we've finally decided to go for it, it'll be like 100 christmases come all at once, or waking up in the playboy mansion, whatever. (y)

I just have an image of Andre coming up to Joe Lewis and being all like:

"Unkie Joe can I have a brand new Lamela plz, it's got great left footed kicking action and...
"No Andre, you've already spent your allowance on that Soldado you harped on about"
"But Unkie Joe, me wants it!!"
" What's wrong with that Chadli and Paulinho I bought you last month?"
"They don't have left footed kicking action!!"
"Oh, all right, I'll buy it; now run off you little scamp"
*Lewis ruffles Avb's hair as he runs off skipping into the sunset*

It's not really that out of character, our spending, plus consider in recent transfer windows the money has been there for Damiao and even Charlie Adams plus others.

Nice update from The Goat, I'm thinking:

CB - Vlad Chiriches
LB - Fabio Coentrao
CM - Etienne Capoue
AM - Willian
AM - Erik Lamela (If Bale leaves)
ST - Alvaro Morata (If Bale leaves)

COYS!!

I work with Adams' Uncle....we don't want him.....believe me...but we did at one point.

For those of you who think Levy is spending Bale money before he gets it, can you please reference previous situations where he has gone on a spending spree ahead of selling an expensive asset. Because he's never done so in my recollection, it wasn't until Modric was out the door that he went and spent 15mill on Dembele, with Carrick and Berbatov/Keane he never spent their fees ahead of time either.

It seems to me that this spending is entirely independent of the Bale saga, and has more to do with the bumper windfall in the Tv monies coming and Lewis being less frugal for once.

jj said he was excited with plan B if i remember. maybe this ties in with the goat's info. i.e. plan B is spend like fuck. maybe they've realised this is the only way to keep bale so why not just go a bit further and just have a proper balls out go? and if plan B does involve signing several top drawer players, maybe bale's had his head turned back again, not least for a season?

interesting times......
