Anyone who has said what we achieved in this window was the 'bare minimum we could have expected' needs their head read and has a short memory. The bare minimum would have been Enic pocketing the profit from Bale to pay for a state of the art stadium we are building and replacing him with Townsend.

Levy reinvested all of the profit from Bale and still intends to build a stadium.

Actually, I can't even believe we are having to have these type of conversations after the window we've just had. The best window bar none in the 30 odd years or so that I've supported Spurs.

My favourite buys of the window are: Chichires & Eriksen. Both got at a good price, both young and versatile. As a Spurs fan, I can safely say that we have been lacking intelligence for a good periods that I can remember. This, is what I hope Eriksen can provide along with his obvious talent. We have had players with intelligence, - Sheringham, Van Der Vaart, Bale - but I feel there always has been a slight lack thereof most of the time, because for the amount of corners and final 3rd possession and this season 'touches in the box' - we probably have one of the worst conversion rates to scoring.
With Chichires, I feel in my bones that this is a good buy. Have seen some small youtube clips - it is something that I would have even considered on Championship manager. He has a sublime touch and dribbling skill like Vertonghen for a centre half and will certainly be an upgrade on Dawson (in the long run) IMO.

It's a shame that we didn't get Willian and Coentrao but it was not for lack of trying.

I think the players signed its too early to tell how they will do. When I saw the Arse game it was apparent that we played like a bunch of strangers. Arsenal had a settled team and greater cohesion - but this was probably the best they can play. Whereas if AVB can mould this team we will be a lot better and I have confidence given how he has been only 1 season at all clubs apart from us and has been successful (apart from Chelski) this should be achievable.

My concern is that I feel we haven't properly replaced Modric and miss a playmaker from midfield....Demble is clearly not that. Rose people should relax and I think it's great to see some homegrown talent...I feel he is on a learning curve and will get better.

We were thinking he scored 18 goals in 37 games in 11/12 so let's see him do that again... oh damn he didn't.

Get what your saying but ade has a history of playing for a big contract, then hes form dips ( putting it nicely).

Easy to say with hindsight but maybe we should have made up a lot of his wages on apprearance and proformance bonuses

WE as in Spurs, never said that yourself? Ill leave it at that as I'm getting wound up about a little prick who quotes STATS! Which says it all, enjoy your season sitting at home on your laptop or whatever you do ! Haha.

Yeah, what's all this STATS nonsense, unequivocal assessments of a player's performance and all, that means nothing, right? What a "little prick".

Here's a stat for you, 99% of SC users think you're a full of crap, obnoxious dipstick 100% of the time.

He created the most chances in the whole of Europe last season. Even accounting for the Prem being tougher than the Dutch league he will bring creativity to the table and I think we'll look a very different team with him in it.

Out of interest do you have a link for this, please?

But we didn't get £60m. We got £85m. And we knew this was coming. My understanding is that Spurs delayed the signing - not Real Madrid. We knew we had the money and we decided not to spend it. Net spend zero.

FFS, so if we'd got Willian instead of Eriksen and if Coentrao had agreed to come then what? We didn't decide not to buy those players. We would have bought Lamela and Chiriches regardless of Willian so you saying we decided not to spend the money when if fact we very publicly tried to is, well, kind of bollocks.

I think in a few years we'll be more than satisfied that we got Eriksen instead of Willian.

Probably because Eriksen will probably still be here and if he'd had a half decent season Willian would have been off to a bigger [paying] club

If you believe the Roma faithful, they believe they should have got £50m for Lamela. We got Eriksen at probably half his value because he was in his last year of his contract. We could have paid 30m for Paulinho, like City did for Fernandinho, and having seen Capoue for his first few games, we could easily have justified another 5-6m on him. Would people be happy then? After all, we wouldn't have a +/- 0 Net Spend.

I for one, am glad we have broken even. When January comes around, if any areas have glaring problems, we have funds that we can cough up. It's better than buying a LB, and a RB now, even though they are weak positions for us, only to find that we are in dire need of a player in January, only to find that the budget has all gone.

Are the people claiming that we should have spent more, and brought more players in, also saying that we can't expect results, as the team need to gel?! United built their team under Fergie from the ground up, and look what they achieved after backing the right man, bit by bit....a 20 year spell at the top of the game. I'm not saying that we'll go on to do the same, but AVB has shown that he has the nous to do good things for us, and he's young enough to still learn. We can't just buy 24 new players, and throw them together. We have the foundation of a superb team, and will continue to build on that. There is no reason why we can't go on to be the next Man Utd. But if we blow all of our money on players, for the sake of "Net Spend", we could equally do a Leeds Utd, and if that happens, no-one will be saying "at least Levy invested in players".

"Exact" in the sense I'd rounded up to £120k.

Press and ITK were unanimous on £115k when he signed.

Possible everyone's wrong, but improbable.

I thought reports said City subsidized his wages, giving him the one off payment which held up the deal in the first place.

He's still on a wedge no doubt, but I think you may be over-egging the pudding a bit old bean.

It is not that we don't want to further improve. Coentrao would not come and I suspect we also had interest in Ozil, who preferred others.

Yes when we are in the CL like Arsenal
