The only way it makes sense to me is that we're still signing players that are a bit undervalued. Paulinho at his release clause, Chadli for £7m, Capoue for €10m... those are all low fees for talented players. As long as they don't have career ending injuries, they aren't likely to drop much in value even if they struggle. I think we've finally decided to trust our staff and look at signings as more of an investment for the future. If those three aren't worth more two years from now than we've just purchased them for, I'll be shocked.
Of course Soldado is the total opposite. But given how badly and how long we've needed a striker, I think that was our one justifiable splurge. And if he powers us into the CL it could pay for itself in the long run.

Verts said he joined us as we said he could play CB. Don't think he'd be too happy being pushed to LB. I'd advocate it though.

Think AVB wants fast fullbacks anyway, that will act similar to wingers, especially if he will play 4-3-3 with wingers cutting inside.
Also doubt that Dante would leave Bayern for us, if he wants to leave there will be bigger clubs interested.

Presumably we've also got our normal transfer budget to spend on top of the extra £50M from Uncle Joe. Also there's any future outgoings which from the sound of it will be quite a few, and then there's the extra £35M in TV money so I reckon we've got £70M left to spend and we can still keep Bale .

I'm trying to justify the thought of spending what would be a lot of money on Otamendi when we have 3 quality centre backs that just happen to be injured at the same time.
I could understand going for a younger centre back to cover injuries but not one as expensive as Otamendi unless we had a plan for one of the others.

Unless Rob and the other mods have created fake accounts to use at there wishes, To create a useable fake identity so they can use it for under cover posts.
