Because you're eventually done, apologies. Why something over nothing?

The above is how I would explain something to one of our players. Sometimes getting rid is a challenge but people get it eventually. Think he's persuaded now..

Bit of a choker for Dawson only to see this while on the US tour - or at least be told it.

Hopefully things move quickly once we're back on Sunday

Like putting a sick dog down. I know getting rid of Dawson is the right thing to do but it's upsetting because of the love and loyalty he has shown to us over the years :(

I agree with this, great lad and exactly the attitude i'd like to see Rose show sadly this dog has been poorly for a long time now.sad to see.

We don't need more LB cover for Davies. We've got Fryers AND Vertonghen. Chill.
Lets not lambaste Rose, He's a spurs lad, went out on loan and did well but it didn't work out for him when he came back. Lets Remember his goal against the scum and wish him well.
Dawson too, given everything he can on the pitch and captained our Club, but being slow his age has caught up on him quickly. Again, lets just wish him well.
Very interested to see who else comes in for the Defence, reckon Naughton will probably stay.

If our only business this window was Davies, Morgan S and a Centre Back, with Dawson and another CM on their way out (along with Siggy and Livermore already done), I'd be more than happy with that. Addresses a number of weak positions whilst not expanding the squad and probably leaves us about financially even which DL will love.

If we then subsequently shift some more fringe players and we want to spunk that cash on a LW/LF a la Griezmann, then happy days. If it doesn't happen then i won't be crying in my beer and will still be optimistic going into the season.

Pretty much agree with this. ITK seems to suggest we may have Lascalles, but want a first team CB, and we'd like Schneiderlin and Greizmann but are happy with our lot as it stands, which ties in with my personal preference too (completely coincidence). If we sold Daws & BAE, signed a LCB to compete/cover Vertonghen, I'd be happy to shut up shop as far as seriously needed summer business goes. I think we have some talent that Pochettino can shape into a team. Only things beyond that is of we have any outgoings, eg Sandro (bring in Schneiderlin) etc. personally I'd sacrifice Paulinho for the sake of squad trimming, free up space for Carroll, Bentaleb etc. If a class LW/LF option becomes available, then that's a bonus, if not, see what Falque, Ceballos, Pritchard can offer. Maybe go after a young CF as a project/4th striker, but nothing major.

We don't need two CBs - we need only one if Dawson goes. But the one we get has to be to the level of Jan (on his happy days) or higher. It's quality we need not more bodies.

If Dawson goes we're left with Vertonghen, Kaboul and Chiriches. Another two just seems OTT. One more is sufficient - but let's make him an absolutely quality purchase.

If an injury crisis occours then let's use our youth players!!!!!

Trouble is, we don't have any suitable youth centre backs. Defensively we are pretty weak in the youth teams in term of players being able to step into a Premier League team.

We need 2 centre backs if Dawson goes. We had Capoue covering there at times last season and that was a disaster. We've broken Chiriches and we don't know how long it will be until Kaboul has his injury problems again.

Its a position that definitely needs bolstering with a couple of players.

Talking about bolstering, anyone still to donate? People have been very generous today but we still haven't covered the ex's for the month, let alone getting anywhere near building up some reserves for the lean winter months.

If Dawson had half the ability he showed in commitment be would be immense. The lad always puts in 100% and has been a true leader in times of need. It's sad to say he isn't needed but with a heavy heart am sorry Michael... love seeing him play just for the commitment alone. On those quiet days last year you could hear him all the time. I will miss him. Love 99% of spurs fans!

P.s I hope when you return you have an off day and Lamela is going bye bye :pompous:

Marcos Rojo I assume? Again, you need to get rid of other players too before it's even possible. There is simply no more room for foreign players atm. Look out for ITK on players leaving before you invest too much faith in players coming.

We don't need to get rid of foreign players, just that we make sure we have at least 7 or 8 home grown players registered in our squad in order for us to register 25 players, which we have, even with Rose and Dawson potentially going.

Not for me, none of those three had a good season last year, at this stage there's more questions than answers. Kabouls struggling to get anywhere close to his pre injury form after so long out, Chiriches granted a new player to the PL who will need time, but so far looking a long way of a PL CB and Verts, we know he can be an excellent CB when he's fully focussed and can be arsed but he is poor when he's not. He is not the quality of CB he thinks he is and needs to be far more focused and far sharper consistently.
If he's up for it he's a good player, right now he's making the right noises, but what happens if we start to struggle a bit?
It wouldn't be so bad if we had strong full back options, Davies is a good signing and should help, but none of Rose, Benny, Walker or Naughton are anywhere close to strong defensively and Fryers it's difficult to know exactly what he offers
Of course Eunice could recapture his form, Vlad could miraculously step up and Verts could finally discover he can be arsed on a regular basis but that's far too many coulds for comfort

Sorry, this is not entirely accurate. If want specific signings from foreign leagues, we must sell present players who came from abroad. No club can have any more than 17 players who are registered (ie. above 21) and who are not home grown. That's the rule. ATM, unless I've counted wrong, we have those 17 players after the signing of Vorm. I expect ITK in the coming days to heed this, and so should we.

Never been his biggest fan but I'd like to think the club would give Dawson a testimonial even if it's 6 months short of the 10 years

Fair to say he's been a big part of the clubs regrowth ever since the Martin Jol days. Getting us back back into Europe, stabilising our position as a top 6 club, and of course securing and playing Champions League football

I'd rather not remember his last couple of years but he's been a great servant to the club and deserves a good send off IMO

As soon as someone says 'chill' I stop reading. Because they are invariably wrong and whatever they are telling you to 'chill' about is usually pressing, necessary and likely to cause disaster if not addressed.

Gotta be worth donating, even if you're only here for the transfer windows, as I generally am.

To keep this on topic, I would love to get Griezmann, but can't see it happening. Just as I couldn't see us getting Lamela when first linked with him.
