Its cool, Don't smoke but wish i did so i could forget that we are entering pre-season with Defoe as our only recognized striker and Modric still half way through the door.

I think Kane is going to be included as one of our strikers. I'm pretty positive about that kid as he's got that habit of being in the right place at the right time. Still...no prem experience and we really do need another two strikers.

As for Modric...I've got a horrible feeling that when he's eventually sold the club will try to pass Sig off as being his replacement all along, (in a similar way to the Carrick/Zokora transfer).

Sad times. I had a big grin when I say JJs name in the RO headed Lloris and Moutinho.Wish I didn't open it now! But I'm still optimistic. Chelsea can't keep buying midfielders

If Defoe's selfish style frustrates you, you'd absolutely hate Hulk.

I certainly wouldn't like him when he's angry.

I like Kane but I don't see him as having the quality needed to make it into the first team. Would prefer to see Coulibaly. And as for Modric being replaced by Sig, He is good but no way he can take on that burden in his first full season in the premier league.

If we had 35 million to spend we shouldn't be spending it on hulk. Decent enough player but that's crazy money.

The fact that we are still "negotiating" with Shitty over Adebayor proves that there is no investment, whether from Middle east or from the money Levy kept hidden from Arry.

proves is a strong word... maybe hints?
the rich don't get rich by spending big, though. may be glamorized as such but pretty consistently not the case.

Wise words my friend. I wish Lewis would put his hand in his pocket this summer, even if it's just for this summer. Just enough investment to bump up our transfer fee offers slightly. For Example:

Lyon want £17 miilion for Llloris, we're touted as attempting a £12 million offer...Joe puts in the extra £5m. Transfer Secured.
Porto want £22 milllion for Moutinho, we offer £16 million...Joe puts in the extra £6m. Transfer Secured.

And so on...........

Just enough investment to secure these important targets, and it's hardly going to blow a hole in his £2.5 billion fortune.

Yeah, would love it if he could. I don't see it happening though.

I just want us to make sure that we don't deal with Modric leaving the way we dealt with Berbatov. We signed Pav.

If we make a Pav style signing in midfield then we're fucked. If it takes the full 35 million to properly replace him, then so be it.

If we get Adebayor then another striker and an alternative on the wings from the Papiss Cisse style 'taking a bit of a chance' mould would be fine. We don't need huge names in those positions, just players with the right qualities.

Dries Mertens would be my bet, along with a versatile forward who can operate in a few positions. Demba Ba would be cheap and fit the bill.

I imagine if AVB is at the Brazil hotel it's in the lobby recreating the naked wrestling scene from Women in love with Sandro?

While an envious Damiao looks on...

Now everyone will say: Oh Hulk ... he is pure class...sign him, get him...

When he was nearly at Chelsea: Ah Hulk, not that goood....always do the same... overrated

love it :D

I won't because if we are struggling to justify the Moutinho transfer there is no way we will pay the Hulk transfer fee, he is simply not worth it

I'm very happy Levy's in charge. I see too many here thinking we should break our transfer record on just anybody so we can get a transfer in. At the end of the day, Lloris, Moutinho and Hulk are good players. I don't know if any of them are great ones. Not one of them, even in today's market is a 20 million pound player. Considering their ages, my gut tells me that only Lloris might make it to the "great" level. But there are 10 fairly easy rules to transfers that should be followed and one of them is don't waste money on keepers.....you can find them cheap. And considering how much we spent on Gomes, it doesn't seem likely that we will do so again. And we have Lennon....we don't need Hulk. And there are plenty of players cheaper than Moutinho. So thank you Levy for not being as impulsive as us fans. We're not PSG, Chelsea or City. We need to make our purchases count.

yep, the trouble is every club wants PSG, Chelsea, City (and RM) prices for their players now and those players want PSG/Chelsea/City wages. They've created a completely false economy, thanks FFP! £25M for Oscar is insane, and supposedly Sao Paolo REJECTED £30M from Man U for Lucas Moura!

I guess fans were thinking due to very little spending in the last few seasons, this was going to be the summer where we push the boat out a little with a manager Levy trusts. That coupled with ITK on big name players and the foreign investment rumour has created a kind of false hope?

Should have been all over Cabaye last summer. Let's go out and find us one of those. Plenty of fish in the sea. As far as I can tell, we've offered decent fees. We're not taking the piss. They are a little on the low side though and I guess we'll wait a few days and make our last, slightly higher offers. After that, we'll be on to different targets, which I'd imagine we've already identified/started investigating.

Not nearly as sad as when you wanted us to sign… Actually, who was that Baggies CB you wanted us to sign instead of Kaboul? And you wanted us to spend the Berbatov money on Robinho, I recall. That would certainly have resulted in sadness. Quite a lot of it, I suspect.

Agreed but Levy found Gylfi and Vertonghen for less than 20 million combined. Values are there if you play money ball. You just have to be cunning. And this goes for me as much as anybody, we have to be patient. But once you know a club are taking the high ground on the price, you screw patience and walk away.

This has played a part I think. Not sure why people are so convinced it's going to happen/has happened etc. Every frigging summer we hear the same shit. I'll just be happy if we get a sponsorship deal for the stadium sorted out soon.
