And if he says he won't go to the Ukraine? This isn't a case of the player forcing his way out, he's said that he'd rather stay in Brazil but the club have been pushing him all summer as they think it's time to cash in. If he rejects Shakhtar they'd have to think hard about another bid.

I get that, but if they were to accept lower bids, Porto would jump back in the mix and Bernard and his father have made it clear that is first choice. We need to price Porto out of this.

JJ said Remy going to Newcastle is a done deal so while I appreciate Rabbi Crackers ITK He is not on JJ's level

Would not mind Long, good back up and bound to be reasonable price

I would be surprised if West Brom were to entertain offers for Long.. Good player for them.

Shane Long.

Is this some kind of joke?

I accept he is a 'decent' striker for WBA, but have you seen his scoring record?

We are competing with 5 clubs for a top four finish.

Can you imagine any of those 5 clubs signing Shane Long?

We need to be signing players that take us forward like Soldado, not average players like Long.

It would be literally insane to sell any of Adebayor, Defoe or Dempsey and replace them with Shane Long.

We may as well sell Bale and replace him with Gabriel fucking Obertan.

He put federici/McCarthy so dont think he was sure. I am hoping he meant Alex McCarthy who became Reading number 1. Good young keeper. Federici was hopeless and was dropped by Mcdermott.

Not sure he would come in as back up as he is getting first team football with a likely championship promotion contender.

*scoops brains back into skull and places sticking plaster over cranium*

That does indeed make sense. Thanks. I see the name Federici and it's like putting your hand in a pile of vomit. I lose all sense of rationality and just want to get away, away from the horror, the filth, the slime, the malevolently disgusting sensation. Rational reaction is not an option. I just want never to have had this most repellent of sensations. Why God, why, did you make this happen to me? What did I do for this nasty, ugly, awful thing to happen. And in turn I can't help but vomit myself, thus adding to the rancid stench and toxic waste that overwhelms me. Vomit here. Vomit there. Vomit. Vomit. Vomit. It soon overcomes me, pouring inside my ears, eyes, mouth, in turn projecting more bile and vomit into wild arcs around me, through my hair, my clothes, vomit, vomit, vomit, still it comes. Gungey, chunky, stinky, warm, moist, slimy vomit. Everywhere I look, everywhere I smell, everywhere I am. Vomit, vomit, vomit, vomit, vomit...

And this is just at the thought of him making the bench for the early rounds of the Carling Cup.

New strategy, Were going to buy all the opposition players that usually score against us.

FFS.
When or if we sign Shane Long have a rant.
Otherwise, chill... It's a scouting list.

I think that's the point, isn't it?

We are scouting the wrong players - hence the reason we're not picking up the Michu's of this world for £2m.

Also, we have signed a "European scout" that seemingly has a fear of flying any fucking where?

Ok, a bit tongue in cheek, but as JJ has alluded to why do some seem to be run in a relatively shambolic way - case point the team that faced Monaco.

Sorry but I'm going to have to pull you up on this. We've done the business as early as possible.

Our top forward target didn't want to make a decision until after the Confeds Cup then didn't choose us. We moved very quickly to secure the next target on our list we completed a club record transfer in literally weeks.

Paulinho again didn't want to make a decision until after the Confeds.

Because of various tournaments and internations, many players have come back late to training. For example regardless of when they signed, Paulinho and Soldado would only ever have trained this one week and would only ever have played our last friendly.

Every other club is in the same boat it's a hard Market to do business in unless you have a lot of cash and we are one of only two clubs in England (Man City being the other) to do any major business (by major business I mean 3 or more players in, £15m+ fees, major first-team upgrades etc.

The only major concern is the centre-back situation but nobody envisaged Vertonghen and Dawson getting injured. Kaboul has to be managed with kid gloves. I'm sure we will bring in two centre-backs - I think the plan was to just bring in one young one to develop but weve had to react to the situation we find ourselves in - which only occurred in the last week or two. It's nobody at the club's fault it's just pure bad luck

I'll give you my two-bobs worth on this, and will willingly tale the flak that i know will come.

Does anyone on here seriously think that Fergie or The Special One would have risked playing their stating center half's on that fucking quagmire of a pitch in HK? You could have envisaged the possibility of any of our starters getting injured. In fact i am surprised no one else did. But for the lure of the green-back AVB should have taken a stance and kept our prized assets well clear of playing those games.

We now have the comedic situation where we have no sensible pairing in the middle of our defence to start the season. A fucking masterstroke of genius from whoever decided to sell Caulker (who could have gone in January anyway). The blame for this fiasco firmly rests at the door of AVB and Levy on this one.

Flame away my beauties.

I would have thought that prior to watching AVB's press conference after the Monaco game. He made two clear points 1. Bale is not for sale and 2. We are still going to make heavy investments on incomings this window.

That would mean to me that any incomings are not dependent on Bale going.

Not heard the interview TBH hope he is telling the truth and not saying what he is told to by the board.
Just going by previous windows, we have already spent more than we usually do and IMO I don't think we will spend 20-30m on one player. Would love to be proved wrong though:)

Hindsight a wonderful thing right?

At the time of selling our FOURTH choice centre back wanted to play first team football - at a time when our 3 centre backs were either fit or a couple of weeks away from full fitness.

He probably saw the match last night and took a hammer to his knee to fail the medical and get back to sunny spain

It's an old list. How old, possibly 2-3 years (who knows) and guess what? We didn't sign them.

One of our european scouts suggests there are more scouts in europe as well as the rest of the world, we probably talk with madrid and inter scouts regularly.

I swear some of you are drama queens, have a snickers and relax.

You do realise that we have more than one scout, we have a global network of scouts who do work around the globe which includes players from lower divisions in England to players in Africa, doesn't mean we're gonna sign them.

What's the big deal?

Federici? FEDERICI? Adam Feder-bloody-rici? ADAM. FUCKING. FEDER. FUCKING. R. FUCKING. ICI.

*blows brains out*
It's got to be a mistake.
Mat Ryan (the young Aussie keeper we had on trial for one game last season) is a better keeper with more upside than Federici.
Federici isn't good enough for an EPL struggler in Reading let alone good enough for spurs.
