The story with Lamela and Osvaldo goes like this. Osvaldo was reportedly angry with Lamela for failing to pass the ball to him during Roma's defeat at Udinese last season and picked up a suspension and €50,000 fine from Roma for allegedly punching the young Argentine in the dressing room afterwards.
Catalan paper El Confidencial ran a report afterwards detailing the argument between the pair and exactly what they allege Lamela said that prompted Osvaldo’s reaction that he was subsequently punished for.
It is believed that Osvaldo was initially irritated in the dressing room after the match by Lamela ignoring his complaints about not passing to him and snapped, “I’m older than you and this is not River, answer as I speak.”
The former River Plate youngster Lamela reportedly then responded, “Shut your mouth, you’re not Maradona.”
At this point it is alleged that Osvaldo went for Lamela and gave him a slap - not a punch as has been originally suggested - before the pair pushed each other a few times prior to teammates intervening. So mainly handbags it seems.

Sounds like a leader not a trouble maker

It is now official that the Scum have missed out on Gustavo. He has been confirmed for Wolfsburg. Their transfer window compared to ours is like night and day. :)

(pardon going OT, just felt i had to share my gloating related joy)

If we sign Pjanic I am looking forward to a headline like:

'Spurs strengthen again as Arsenal fans dream of Pjanic buys

Bale or no Bale. If we get Lamela and/or Coentrao in now, and maybe Pjanic/Eriksen or William if Bale goes, we will have some team this season. Whats even better is that next pre-season looking at this squad I can't see anyone irreplaceable like Bale/Modric that will want to leave. I predict the start of this season to be a bit stuttering, but next pre-season will hopefully be more settled and I can see AVB, Levy and Baldini thinking ahead and looking at the next 2-3 seasons with the investment we are making now. So even if we don't get top 4 this year we will have a very strong team for years to come. Very reassuring. Get a new stadium on top of this, and the future looks very bright.

The team very young, many in their primes, and tbh im just happy to fight for top 6 year after year. Whilst worrying about the Bale situation, I keep on reminding myself about the 90's and start of the 20's :)

Need a trophy soon though:)

Am I the only one that doesn't want Lamela and pjanic?

Don't get me wrong, I'd love Lamela but other than him I don't see the need for pjanic unless we are selling sigurdsson and Holtby.

If we get Lamela then imo, we still desperately need another striker to compete & cover with soldado (presuming Ade & Defoe are off), a left back like Coentrao and a centre half.

I'm not sure another player who can play behind the striker is needed, especially at £20m+, I'd rather we spent that on another good striker.

I think I agree, Lamela would be great, but our priorities then should be a left back, and a player who could play in Soldado's position, and preferably also cover the wide positions in the front 3.

Not so convinced of the need for another centre back for now, I'm hoping Daws and Jan are fit for the start of the season, and that Kaboul will see an end to his injuries. In that case we have Capoue who can cover, Sandro at a push, before we start scraping the bottom of the barrel with the likes of Fryers or Walker playing there. A young CB would be good, who won't expect 1st team but is capable of playing the odd cup game and providing back-up.

The lack of recent ITK on a left back is what is worrying me the most.

Surely it's Eriksen and Coentrau now and Lamela if Bale goes makes more sense. Lamela plays where/how Bale does.

Like Pjanic, but would prefer Eriksen.

Both are good players, I jut think that Pjanic will be more accepting of a squad role than Eriksen and that probably makes a difference in terms of squad unity.

Pjanic signing would probably mean Siggy leaving but he would leave us with midfield options of:

DM: Sandro and Capoue
Box to Box: Dembele and Paulinho
Playmaker: Holtby and Pjanic (Carroll)

which would be really quite special.

Agent Osvaldo is doing Franco's work for him.

Only a matter of time now before Erik wants to leave.

have we had any ITK on Osvaldo?

Nope. I think people are just adding 1+1 and getting 7. The only tenuous Osvaldo link comes form the Italian press saying that the Roma Sporting Director is in London negotiating deals for Lamela, Osvaldo and possibly Pjanic. Although i'm pretty sure they do go on to mention Osvaldo in regards to Southampton, not us.

Okay, Maybe i just have a bad sense of humor, but can someone please explain why every time there is new ITK some people will rate it funny? It makes no sense to me how Ali Z's latest ITK is rated funny*9, agree*1 and winner*1, when it is just pure informative?
