We've got Jan coming back soon. Surely Kaboul ain't to far behind? Actually, forget I mentioned Kaboul.

To have Jan back will be great, but I still think we are too short of a LB who may can cover CB as well.

We have just Rose out left, who struggled with injuries and honestly isn't the best there yet.
Fryers and Naughton are not ready for our level at lb and I certainly want to see JV in the Centre.

For me, this position is a must. get someone in and send Fryers on loan.

Even the most experienced defenders get caught diddling on the ball. I'm no massive fan of Rose, but one mistake doesnt make him a bad player. Much better than Naughton for example, the most pointless footballer known to have ever existed.

Neither player is a recognised left back. One is a right back the other a left winger.

I care not if a converted left winger "gets caught diddling" in the opponents penalty area but i do have a major concern after our club has spent 100 million on players and yet furnishes it's defence with a total fuckwit.

One mistake shouldn't cost anyone their job, but this excuse of a left back hasn't just made the one now has he?

Because Adebayor is here. Benny and Ade together is a no, no for completely understandable reasons.

It is funny how we have completely forgotten all the clamoring on here for a left back since we did not think Benny or Rose were good enough and now everyone wants Benny back. I, for one, do not want him anywhere near our squad though.

But it was O.K. for them to play in the team that landed us 4th place? Ade played 38 games that season and Bennie 40.

Funny old game innit.............................."completely understandable reasons" i guess...........................

We need a left back, no if's or but's about it.

Getting one means Capoue and Vertonghen will not have to play out of position. Therefore a left back effectively strengthens three positions in our team. It's a must.

Rose looked good at the start of the season he deserves a chance to find his rhythm again after a long injury .

I'm not sure if fryers is adequate cover but I expect after all the effort the club went through to acquire him they'd like to give him a go!

I'm no fan of his. His performances in preseason were shocking. I always believed we'd sign a left back. AVB made a boob getting rid of Benny with no adequate back up. Weakened left back and centre back when having to move verts. He has improved but still isn't great.

I'm not sure how we are still having a debate about needing cover at left back. If the powers that be don't want benny back for what ever reason then there has to be another option brought in no if or buts or ums or ahhs.

I'm not going to accept another half a season short in that position when we have a perfectly good player ready and waiting on our own books.

Either bring back bae or get some one else.

He's the weakest LB of all the teams targeting the top 4. On top of that we have to take our best CB out of position to cover. Your two best CB's should be disrupted as little as possible, which given that both of ours are injured doesn't help. But how many games has Jan actually played in his favoured position this season...

Glad you are, I am not.
Too poor or injury prone.
New LB is needed so that CB doesn't get shafted everytime and we should be keeping an eye out for a genuine quality CB as Kaboul is seemingly perma-crocked and Dawson is erratic at best and probably in danger of being dropped once injuries are out the way. Vlad is still settling still.

If we were to assume Kaboul will not make a recovery, that he and Dawson are therefore on their way out, that leaves us with just 2CB's.

I definitely think we need a left back but who do we get that's available? Coentrao, Shaw and Baines have their eyes set on bigger things, Ben Davies is probably too expensive, possibly Aaron Cresswell or Dodo but are they good enough to be worth spending money? I think we'll buy a LB if a good one becomes available but that if only stopgaps are possible, we will stick with what we have, as we'd only have to sell them again in the summer.

I can see us loaning Vucinic or someone similar if Defoe leaves, but that's about it I think.

You're making alot of assumptions here.

Left Back - if we were that worried about cover then i'm sure BAE will be recalled.

Centre back - Verts is back soon, Chirches is adapting really well, Dawson is Dawson. Kaboul might yet recover this season.

We can't just keep spending money when players are injured. That is why you have a squad - to cover injuries. If you keep buying players then what happens when everyone is fit?

Agree!

We can't buy buy buy every time we have injuries. However we should have addressed the Left Back position years ago. I know some people rate BAE but definitely not my type of player. In fact when was the last time Spurs had a "Class" left back. I'd honestly have to go back as far as the early 80's. Chris Hughton! For some reason we have never scouted or raised through the academy a "quality" left back.
