It'll be decent business but hardly masturbation worthy.
I still don't think we've improved our front line near enough to be celebrating about it being a great window. Not by a long shot. But it would be good to get numbers out the door and sort out the HG problem so we don't need to worry about it next summer.

I think it'll give him a solid young group which he can mold into his image for the team. It'll mean we can look at any players from anywhere in the world without any worries over HG quota's.

As I've been saying it's not spectacular but it's joined up thinking.

Yeah I agree. Quite pleased with how quickly we'd have made that transition if we get what we need done today. 30 months. If only we hadn't lost the crown jewel in that same period.

Yeah it gives us good balance but I would are only Johnson as potentially breaking that ceiling of "brilliant" player.

Gallagher is good for the system and the CB is just decent cover.

Not that I am complaining but I have a feeling next summer we will be crying for another winger on the left and possible a CF
We almost definitely will. But let’s hope the world we do now means we can go big on 2 quality players there that can be foreign.

Still a lot can happen that cruches the nice deal

Hojbjerg not happy with Atleti offer
Atleti don't want obligation
Spurs not happy with Atletis price and terms
Chelsea pulling the plug to play with Spurs
Spurs and Chelsea can not agree on price
Gallagher wants to stay because he is a Chelsea boy
Gallagher wants to stay as he sees too much competition here

Would be really surprised if this works out tbh.

Carpe Diem
  1. used to urge someone to make the most of the present time and give little thought to the future.

All depends on one of Son or Richy clicking in the ST role I think. If that happens I think we'll be in top 4/6 contention.

Gallagher has pretty much the ideal attributes for a right sided 8 in an Ange midfield. Very excited if this comes off.

Agree with this. Gives us the flex to potentially just add 2-3 quality players as additions next summer. Hopefully it’s all part of a cohesive project to position us well next season

And we will have the freedom of going for whomever we choose knowing we won't have to play the deals off against HG quota's.

I hear you.

But it is far easy to go and get players to improve when the foundations are in place.

Arteta did similar when he started sorting Arsenal out.

Cleared the squad. Established a system with 13-15 players and then just simply improve on the players that need it.

We have made a mess of the squad with different players for different systems so it was always going to take time to rinse it and have a pathway forward.

Way I see it is now we can just focus on adding 2-3 who really improve us and there will be new exciting players who emerge

This is the thing, when we leave it so late people are more accepting of “Lesser players” although I do think they’re good! But not quality additions.

Veliz 13
Vic 17
Phillips 2
Maddison 40
Kulu 30
Bissouma 26
Udogie 16
Solomon 0
Sarr 14

That's almost a whole team for about 150.

Some parts of the market are inflated. But there are still good value deals to be done.

I don't mind the odd overspend like BJ as long as we focus on being smart with most of our dealings, as we were with the signings above.

Big thanks to the ITK today - amazing work.

This is also evidence for why we should be picking up 2-3 Sarrs and Udogies in each window. Each one takes at least 1 year on loan and then an integration into the squad so require time. However, as is the case with those two, if it works then it’s a massive boost for a club like us.

From this window you’re looking 1-2 seasons down the line and hoping Phillips or Veliz can be the next one.

It’s refreshing to see us back doing this sort of business as it served us so well 10-15 years ago.

We don't all have you high standards when it comes to masterbation mate.
They aren't high standards mate. I just have rules about knocking one out to Conor Gallagher, outside of schools and within 2 square miles of anyone with more than 10 posts in the "this thread is useless without pictures" thread because of how degen they are.

Thanks for keeping the thread updated. 100% agree. On June 14 everyone here was on board for the Ange rebuild. We dominate United and now on Sep 1 there is skepticism around bringing in a solid young group.

We've been very active IMO. Maddison, van de Ven, Vicario, Veliz, Philips, Solomon, Gallagher, Tosin/Lloyd, and Johnson is one of our better windows and to me does show a bit of intent in rebuilding the squad and supporting the manager.
