Sky reporting Felix to Barca - maybe that gives them the money to come back in for PEH
I don't think that was ever really the issue. Seems like they weren't massively convinced by him and just wanted the customary loan or cheap player we usually give them.

So our new manager openly talked about wanting another defender, the only position he openly talked about wanting and we couldn't do it.

New manager same issues.
This is it.

This is the take from this window. Especially after selling your best goalscorer of all time for huge money

If we let Dav go and don't bring someone in..............
Yeh that would relegate the window from bare minimum to pretty terrible. He's our only CB who at least has the attributes to play back-up in this system.

Because people think the new system replaces Kane and don't seem to consider that the new system could have included Kane. It wasn't one or the other.
Exactly - Kane would have been unbelievable in Ange’s system

If Sanchez out on a permanent deal, I will take it...even if it puts us in a bad situation if injuries happen.
What? We'd barely get £10m for him, and we will be forced to replace him next summer anyway when he leaves for free. The risk massively outweighs the benefit.

This window would have been alright if we hadn’t sold arguably our best player ever.
I always think it’s impossible to judge a window until a few months after tbh. Last summer I thought we’d had a superb window, but it turned out none of the business we did worked out that well at all.

At the end I think we probably won’t have achieved everything we wanted/needed this summer. We are at the start of our project though so we are going to need a few windows to build the team we want. If it turns out we release a few players over the coming days, I’ll see that as a bigger success for us than signing a defender we probably don’t really want (Even though I think we are leaving ourselves exposed there.)

We have 16 games until the January window opens. If we’ve cleared some space by the time that window opens, hopefully we can add more players then. We still need a proper striker, and another fast defender. I’m disappointed those weren’t addressed this time round.

Happy to oblige. No one thinks Phillips is ready for first team football, so we are clearly short at CB as Sanchez isn’t good enough to be first cab off the rank and Dier doesn’t fit the system at all. So we are one injury from disaster.

what else did I expect? Well silly me but I thought we might actually reinvest the money for failing to keep hold of our best player. One 22 year old who scored 8 goals last year is not a Kane replacement. Also selling more than one of our deadwood on a permanent deal would have been nice wouldn’t it?

We’ve bought some good players this window. I’d give the first few weeks a B+ at least, but since the Kane sale it’s an F and there is not way of dressing it up differently. We have got substantially worse, this is absolutely inarguable, and we’ve left scrambling around not getting deals done on deadline day for the 500th time in a row.

does that explain it?
There was no chance our team was going to be better no matter how many we signed and who we shipped out. The moment Kane decided to leave that was that. Ange has said he's not looking for a Kane replacement, he wanted players that can do the job he wants.

We brought in Brennan and that's on Anges decision. Even you said in previous posts "if Ange wants him then I have no complaints" so I don't understand your point now able Brennan not being good enough.

In fact, this is one of your posts from earlier in the transfer window:

"For all our (justified) complaints about ins at times (the lack of a new CB since Romero the most obvious example) outs has been a far bigger problem. If we could clear out the dead wood and buy a GK, CB, LB and AM/winger plus a couple of depth options (second CB most important) I’d expect us to make the CL next year. The operative word in that sentence is ‘if"

The only thing missing is a second back up CB but you're now no longer convinced we can challenge for UCL based on the to and fro of deadline day?
