Apologies is i should have put this in another thread.

Ferry Bodde of swansea, he is exactly the player we need at the heart of our midfield. his passing has been excellent tonight and every other game ive seen him play.

he's an aggressive tackler and a leader. very much like roy keane was. he's also got one hell of a shot.

if anyone has got sky put the swansea cardiff game on. he's completely dictated the way swansea have played.

and the biggest reason we should sign him imo is that he's a winner. it matters to him. and players like that make great teams.

take a look for yourself

At the moment it seems any agressive tackler, hardman, someone with bite is good enough for spurs and exactly what we need

So far we have had..Lee Catermole, Lorik Cana & Ferry Bodde - who next...Eek

Ever considered their are reasons why these players are at swansea & wigan etc..No disrespect to them, but being an agressive tackler and having the ability to control a game against cardiff does not make them good enough for spurs.

michael brown came to spurs and did a job that needed doing for a while. why be so dismissive at players that could help us, even for a limited time?

That was then this is now.

Times change and so do the quality of players we seek. Like I said - being agressive and a hard tackler probably is not enough in this day and age in your modern Central Midfielder. Ok it can work with the likes of Mascherano and Gattuso, but they are a cut above the rest at what they do and generally have a better understanding of the game.

If we want a hard tackling & agressive midfield player, then its just as important that he can pass & shoot to a some extent too.

Its now about the complete player and the complete team - not one player that can tackle accompanied by one who can pass.

Its probably why Huddlestone does not get a run in - all he can do is pass & why 75% of spurs fans dispise Zokora.

im not normally one to say we need this player or that player. but imo i believe bodde to be a very talented DM. and despite what you or many may think, an improvement on the players and attitude that we have in the centre of the pitch.

I watched the Cardiff game. Swansea are looking SLICK. Their manager is amazing. Really knows how to use his links in Spain to great advantage.

I am a Swansea fan and I think their players would fall a little short in the Prem. But they certainly would hold their own.

The one thing that you need to consider, Racky, is that we don't have anyone who can do the job, in however limited a fashion, apart from maybe Ledders. I'd rather have someone than no-one.

Most players come from lesser teams, just because they are playing for the like s of Cardiff or Swansea doesn't mean thier not good enough for Spurs. Bale, Gunther and Ramsey anyone?

Those three are extremely talented teenagers, though. Checking his record (because I'd never heard of him, let alone seen him), I see that Bodde is 26 and played for den Haag for years before joining Swansea. That rather begs the question, why didn't PSV or Ajax or Feyenoord snap him up a few seasons ago? I'm really pushed to think of a player of that age who's been signed from the Championship in recent years who's turned out to be a major success. In fact, I can't think of one.

I think we should have signed Pedro Mendes this summer

He went to Rangers in the end for £3million (I think)

Would have been the perfect signing; cheap, reliable, Premier League Experience and can do a solid job at holding the midfield

If only for one season he would have been worth signing

The only downside is if he actually would want to resign for us

I'd like to see O'Hara get a run of games, as I have probably said somewhere else. I think he shows the bite we need. If Jenas worked as hard on sunday as JoH I think we would have looked quite good.

it really annoys me that people on here see us as this club on a pedestol. that is too good for 'lesser players'. and some of the players mentioned are playing for more succesful clubs, and nations.

after seeing his snappy short passing, aswell as expansive passing (all forward by the way) and the way he drives his team up the field, i think its something we lack. our passing is pedestrian and we sometimes run out of ideas when we get to the oppo box.

i have no idea why he wasnt signed by bigger clubs in holland. but some players do slip through the net. he's be a decent buy imo.

I'm from Swansea and although I live in Bristol now so don't see that many games Bodde is by far the best player on that team. He seems to be one of those players (like Jimmy Bullard, perhaps) that slipped through the cracks early in his career and now is playing below where he is worth. Martinez has put together a fantastic side. Derby were desperate to buy Bodde in the summer but the club resisted. By the end of the season Swansea will be up there and Bodde will be more highly rated. I'm not sure if he's good enough for spurs but he's a damn fine player.

if ever there was a time to gamble on a player surely its now. he wouldnt cost that much and if he didnt cut it we could sell him on and recoup some money. but if he did prove he has what it takes to play at the top level we'd have a bargain.

we cant do any worse! we might get to see him first hand next season if it continues!

that was a joke

Quite possibly. You've had the advantage of seeing him play, and it's entirely possible that he's a late developer who's somehow slipped through the net. It happens (Crouch is an obvious example), just not all that often. You can't really call Jimmy Bullard an exception because he came up with Wigan and proved he could cut it. But I'm not putting us on a pedestal—it's just really difficult to think of any established EPL club that's signed up a player of 25 or over from the Championship and had him turn into a major success, not recently, anyway.

But if you reckon he's that good, don't tell us, mate, tell Ramos and Damo!

'57 it wasnt aimed at you personally. many people believe that our club is so great that most players would never be a success for us. reasons ranging from age/nationality/league they play in as the base of the argument.

its right up there with 'he will only get better' when we sign a young player.

routledge anyone?

We do miss an experienced older player in the center of the park no doubt. I still have my reservations over veloso and whether he has the guile and knowledge to be able to control a game against the best opposition. I would like to see a davids'esque signing that will settle and push our midfield onto greather things, someone who will help us become more disciplined and work together as a team, and most importantly someone who has a track record of having done it at a top european club for many years.

Albelda would have been great, but if it wasnt to be then it wasnt to be.

Was albelda really ever an option. quality player no doubt about it.

i dont think the player we need has to be experienced. mikel at chelsea is showing you dont have to be an old head.

maybe bodde isnt a player the club would sign, but the sheer will to win every tackle and the sharpness of passing to get the ball quickly to the dangermen really is what prompted me to start this thread.
