Henderson??
Featured in just 21 matches this season and nowhere near fit.

People need to understand that the tournaments won't be won by picking the 23 (26) players who played the best season and who have the best form, it will be won by a team. And a team needs leadership, experience and cool heads when it comes to a close call, where you need to be a unit.

Then some make sense to be picked because they are good coming of the bench, others will be overlooked when they can only perform when they start.

Then you need players who have got at England (if only training) and their clubs some sort of chemistry with other players on the pitch so they do not need to learn too much where the other players are running and passing to.

What did Ings do wrong?

Does it really matter? How much would he play with Kane, Sancho, Sterling, Foden, Grealish and Rashford picking up 99% of the playing time in the offense? Rather have another young player with them who is just happy to be there.

Watkins and Bamford have both been in good form, and to be honest unless injuries occur between now and the final squad announcement, neither would make it. That front line is already decent in my mind.

The attack should be lethal and have no problems creating many chances but I don't trust Southgate to not get in the way.

Bamford deserves some recognition (even though it would only be a token gesture) for his play this season and I think he could potentially link up well with the other technical players.

For me the key is having an understanding already going into a tournament. Bamford is a completely new player to fit in and generate that link up play. I'd rather give him World Cup qualifiers/friendlies to feature in than straight into a tournament. Watkins has been involved before. Might just be me, but that's how I see it.

That's understandable.

No maddison is a joke with all those defenders picked.

Obviously going for the piss poor 5 at the back.

Hopefully Winks and Dier dropped will convince levy theyre useless but will show other clubs they aren't that valuable unfortunately

Maddison was never getting in over the likes of Mount, Grealish, Lingard and Foden.

There was always going to be one or two players who'd miss out in those forward positions.

Midfield and attack is very strong, there is a debate for Bamford and Ings but I don't see too much wrong with the players selected. Watkins will get cut anyway so it doesn't matter too much. I hope Southgate doesn't cut Sancho or Greenwood.

What has he got wrong?
He always seems to leave out at least one deserving player, whether it's Grealish, Maddison or Bamford etc. I swear every squad there's always something. Plus the rightback thing is pure madness at this point.

I've never known an England manager to cock up as many squad selections as Southgate does.
The players that alot of people are moaning about missing out wouldn't even got 5 mins of play time in the whole tournament, so I never see the issue why anyone really cares.

Maddison has been shit for ages. Go on the Leicester forum and not one of their fans is saying he deserves to be in the squad!

You're always gonna have to leave out an attacking player because of the wealth of options in the attacking positions, I feel that Maddison was the right player to leave out based on form.

Nothing wrong with the right back selections either.

Southgate got a tough choice on his hands. imo this generation of England players are more talented and better than back in the 90's with "The class of 92". Either way, no one is gonna 100% agree on his final pick. Easy as that.

Show how far we've fallen when you compare Spurs players in this squad to 2016 Euros squad
