Missing about half our best players and it's a friendly so can't really read anything into it.

Southgate will never get the most out of this squad, though.

People say that but when has an England manager got the best out of the squad since...I don't even know...Tel, Robson...? Hardly like top managers are chomping at the bit for the job is it. At least he's prepared to give the younger players a chance. Some of the previous ones would still be starting Wayne Rooney if they were still in charge.

Well, obviously with half a team not playing (including most of the better technical players), an unfit and out of touch Grealish, and a smattering of players not even making the squad for the Euro's I'm not sure what I was expecting, but that second half especially was worrying. There was zero control and quite a lot of panic. Austria were right up for it too.

TAA’s injury sums up Southgate. He’s got 6 fullbacks in the squad but these two play 90 minutes. ?

So who do we want to replace TAA assuming that's curtains for him? I'd go JWP.

I would guess Lingard, rightly or wrongly, given that Southgate has made a point out of emphasising how close he was to making the squad.

England don't just look poorly coached, they look like they aren't coached at all.

It's international football. With such little time in training they basically aren't, even more so with so many young and inexperienced players selected.

Other teams seem to manage it a lot better than us, though.

It isnt just two players but Henderson looked totally unfit and Maguire is not going to be there until very very deep - send them home. Our players looked tired and lethargic...

FYI England kits 30% off on the spurs shop if you want the strip for your kids or whatever. Cheapest I have seen them.

So how do you practice team cohesion and get players match fit then?
This. Assuming all the United, Chelsea and City players are cleared to play the XI should be pretty much the one Southgate has in mind for Croatia, it's the only chance to build relations and the potential gains in cohesion far outweigh the risks of injury.

I am struggling to understand why England repeatedly fall into the trap of taking players who are clearly not 100% fit into tournaments. We've seen it in the past with Beckham and Rooney. Henderson has missed too much football to be involved. Maguire is also not fit. They may be key players for Southgate when fully fit, but including them is pointless.
