I think that's a bit harsh, I think part of his remit was to keep Hamsik quiet, which he did. I think he was also a dsmn site better (and certainly saw more of it) with the ball than Alli was the previous game.

I know Alli can play better than that, and I'm not saying I'd choose Henderson over Alli next time, but it would depend who England were playing.

I think Alli was pretty poor (again), but whilst Henderson did a reasonable job harrying and pressing, anyone can do that - he's supposed to be able to pass (apparently), and it was incredibly frustrating to see move after move break down when the ball reached him.

I thought Henderson had a busy game, and combined well with Clyne and Dier, but sure he gave the ball away a little too much.
But compared to our other attacking statues, he was on fire.

To have that much possession and only 2 good shots on target means something is wrong.
We all know Wiltshire should not be out there and we know Vardy plays on the break, but we should be able to carry 2 players.
We know Lallana cannot score, but that's not his job - that still leaves Strurridge....

I'm not convinced he is an intelligent player - I think he wanders where the little voices in his head tell him,
and it is not always good advice. Hard to man mark him but hard to play with too.
He didn't work hard - Kane was the only one pressing - I've seen enough - next!

Just a ridiculous turn of events in yesterdays games to be honest.

Now in a very tough side of the draw, Wales could have a much easier route into the semi finals with who'll they'll get to play, from there they'll more than likely meet croatia... honestly at that point, anything can happen.

In the meantime, we'll have to navigate against France, Spain, Italy or Germany.....

Smart move Roy.

France aren't anything special, even on home soil. Croatia showed last night that Spain can be got at with pressing done well. We've beaten Germany before and I don't think they're quite up to the standard they set as world champions. Italy are the only ones that worry me from this list, why? Because they can defend and defend well which we cannot seem to find a way to break down.

The others have looked shaky at the back to me and can be got at in an open game.

The FA aren't happy with hodgson for making so many changes according to the papers this morning. Cant blame them really, neither were we. He's an awful manager isn't he?

Maybe one of them... in a final, not having to go through all of htem.

Easier route would have been to win the group, no arguements over that.

Point being, hodgson really fucked up, rather than taking it one game at a time, clearly had one eye focused on the next round by 'resting' players....

Agree with all of that too, but I'd still rather face a poland over those in our side of the draw.

Okay Belgium are there, but they are like England - just a group of individuals rather than a team. Croatia look like one of the strongest teams so far.

Well they only have themselves to blame by deciding to keep him on after the shambles of the last World Cup.

Yes he is. :D (You seemed to have some doubt left)
I think he'll be gone tbh. Question is who would do a better job?

Personally if I was the FA, and we might not like it, but I'd chuck a load of cash at wenger. Get him to take this team to the next World Cup finals. I think he'd do well with this squad of players.

The changes he made weren't that major, other than Henderson and Wiltshire we can't really argue with any of the Changes, both the full backs really needed a rest as Rose and Walker have arguably been our best players and have run themselves into the ground. Everyone wanted the striker changes and other than resting Rooney i don't really see the issue. As e always find at these tournies teams turn up against England, Russia and Slovakia both played much more attacking football against Wales, would like to see what would of happened if they had sat back.

The were major. It changed how we played. He could have rested Walker and Rose depending on how they were feeling, and I would have swapped out Sterling, probably for Vardy or Sturridge, but other than that he should have stuck

i'm beginning to fear for Dier and Kane for next season.
Harry hasn't had a decent break for 2 years and Eric seems to be tiring at the end of games for England.
Thankfully if ITK is correct we have cover for the latter but still need somebody up front to give Harry some decent rest periods once the season starts.

Who the hell do we get when the Hodge leaves?
I'd have no issue with someone who isn't English but there's always a tendency to go for an English manager and the media don't seem to like a foreigner

In the England setup we have Southgate, Neville and Pearce. No one there inspires confidence.
Do we go with someone young and upcoming such as Howe? Maybe Chrissy Hughton if he can take Brighton up this year. I know he represented Ireland but was born and lived here his entire life.

If the players were showing tiredness in training prior to playing in the Slovakia match then I can't fault Hodgson for dropping them. If he dropped them because he wanted to give them a rest despite looking OK in training that's another thing...especially when they get about a week off between games at the end of the group stage. A couple of changes would have been OK, six was too many.

Dyke said recently that the next manager would probably be a foreign manager that knows the Premier League. Pellegrini wouldn't be a bad appointment. He's a good manager and he seems to handle the press well.
