I am sitting watching the England game and I just keep thinking why do they keep going backwards and why isn't anyone making runs up front or playing one twos or even trying to score.
I think I've got used to watching Spurs this season. 😊

I'm not watching, but as said it's essential to have runners around Kane. Play Maddison, Foden etc around him and England's play is stale.
A reason why Sterling has been so good with Kane and Son at club level. This idea of Kane staying in the box and receiving crosses etc. just never happens.
He naturally drop deep and link up play.

The players think he’s wonderful and credit him for their own development, he’s getting better results than anyone since Robson and he’s put together the best balanced midfield in years.
He just needs to cure himself of his addiction to Maguire and Henderson. In contrast to those two, he has Saka, Maddison and Bellingham fitting snugly into his system.
That's all very well, but this football is slow and boring, with no obvious style to it

Apart from the occasional long ball to saka, it's pass to the wing, pass back to CB, pass to other wing, pass back to CB, pass to CM, pass back to CB......

And Ukraine score

Always makes me laugh when I see these “What stops this England team winning the Euros/World Cup” posts on Twitter. The answer is Gareth Southgate. Nice bloke, and by all accounts a good man manager, but we’re less than the sum of our parts under him. So many good, exciting players and he either doesn’t play them, or doesn’t set up to get the best out of them.

Henderson is superfluous. Bellingham should play there against this opposition and have another attacker up there, probably Rashford.

Most talented group of England players to pick from in 15+ years, and Southgate’s still playing Henderson and Maguire. Ridiculous.

sorry
this is stupid and so obvious. Bellingham and rice in CM and Maddison CAM, rashford or Grealish LW.
The way Henderson gets himself in to this team, regardless of his Saudi move is neglegent on Southgate

Shocking really that Southgate is picking Maguire who hardly plays and Henderson and Kane who are playing in much weaker leagues and are clearly not up to this level any more (😏😬).

I often feel bad for not watching us very much outside of international tournaments. Then I watch and I remember why I rarely bother.

We need to break them down and playing 3 central midfielders. I wouldn't mind if they actually did anything with the ball.
