Just scrap this stupid international break once and for all, it's bad enough that there are about 50 qualifiers per season but these friendlies mid-season are ridiculous and are part of the reason why so many players are getting injured every year. Nobody cares, waste of fucking time.

I get it though, i don't follow England but a kit manufacturer shouldn't have carte blanche to just change a nations flag as they please.

unless it is a commemorative piece then the flag of the country should remain.

Nike would never do that to the American flag randomly.

I don't disagree but the outrage is OTT. It's really not that important at all and the FA obviously approved it. It's also happened before and no one mentioned it. Just a sign of the times

You're clearly not patriotic, I'm not overly either but a lot of people are. I'm not going to lose my shit over it and was never going to buy it anyway but it is a shitty virtual signalling move at England's Expense.

How would you, and everyone else on here react if Nike decided next year the cockerel on the club badge on our shirt was going to be pink and red instead of blue?

I guess it's a sign of the times because people feel that their national identity is being eroded and having pride in a country is looked down upon - so you then get small steps like this that break the camels back, as it where.

I'm with you - I don't think it's great. Basically because it's no longer the St.George cross if it isn't red - it's just a colourful cross. Plus the national flag should be a 'unifying symbol' in itself. But also feel that peoples anger is way over the top. There should certainly be a line between disagreement/bemusement and OUTRAGE! WOKE AGENDA! etc.

This is exactly my viewpoint on it.

we see the reaction to having red as our shirt sponsor every year, i imagine people that are very proud to be English will rightly imo be pissed off with it.

I've seen black, white & grey union flags, I've seen American flags with a blue line on, I've seen Australian flags with a kangraoo with a massive penis on it, nobody has ever given a crap about stylized flags other than staunch nationalists...

...Then a football shirt had a cross on the collar that wasn't a particular colour and half the country lose their shit.

Funny stuff. Lot of people with a lot of screwed up priorities. If they don't change it and we win then, literally, NOBODY will give a toss all of a sudden. I think people just need that drama, no matter how minor or pathetic.

In London during the last WC there was barely any flags/wing mirror covers etc that i used to see.

there is a negative connotation with the St Georges Cross these days, i don't think that is much of a debate.

like i said i grew up in an Irish household so the issue doesn't rankle with me but i can see how it would to Patriotic people. (not to the levels we are seeing it is OTT but still)

Obviously some people do care, and those saying "yeah but in the grand scheme of things".......People can be angry about more than one thing at a time. Just because it's getting more air time doesn't mean the man in the street doesn't care more about child poverty. That's on the media.

Never seen this much attention to being patriotic when it comes to St George's Day.

It's quite funny actually. Nobody cares about international football but they care about the shirt.. It doesn't change your life in the slightest does it? It's hardly burning the cross. It's a colour change on one shirt. That's it.
